NAOMI CHERISHED HER friend group like a second family, but their persistent curiosity about her new friend pushed her to the brink. Their voices filled the room, a chorus of banter and mischief that threatened to overwhelm her.

"Guys, we should like, move into a six-bedroom apartment and be roommates," Dayana proposed, plopping down next to her curly-haired friend, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

"With who's money, we're B-R-O-C-K-E, broke," Travis quipped, slumping onto the couch with a nonchalant air.

"B-R-O-K-E," Patsy playfully corrected, patting Travis' head. "Bro can't even spell."

Travis's defense came with a hint of frustration. "Piss off, you know I have dyslexia."

"That's no excuse," Patsy countered.

"Hey-"

"Guys we can use the money from Noa, y'know she gonna get that good stuff from the publicity she's getting," Dayana suggested, planting a seed of possibility in their minds.

She couldn't help but recall her mother's warnings about the influence of her friends. Perhaps there was some truth to it after all.

Naomi swiftly interjected, popping a chip into her mouth. "What are you talking about? The only six rooms you'll get from me are in a homeless shelter."

"Are we here to watch a movie or have a heated debate? It feels like we're living in Stranger Things right now," Kimberly interjected, entering the room with a bowl of popcorn.

"Yeah, isn't it supposed to be movie night?" Jenny added, her voice echoing a sense of disappointment.

"Movie night can go to hell," Patsy mockingly dismissed, igniting a spark of playful argument.

"You're just bitter because you never get to choose," Travis fired back, his words fueled by a sense of triumph.

"THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT!" Patsy retorted, the volume of their banter rising.

"Because your taste is trash," Travis declared, aiming a verbal blow.

"You have no reason to speak, you chose Cooley High over Addams Family, Cooley High sucks balls!" Patsy stated furiously.

"Is it because they're black? I never thought you were racist," Dayana interjected, her words carrying a severe but joking tone.

"You still watch My Little Pony, so you can't—" Travis began, attempting a comeback.

"Let's not get into controversial territory now. You know the majority here enjoys My Little Pony," Naomi swiftly intervened, diffusing the tension before it escalated.
