This is two weeks after the attack and thing have been quiet since then, and they have just been doing minor missions after their success in the capital.
Ruy POV:
"Come on Sophie! We have to go," I complained. "Hurry up!"
"Going. I'm here, I'm here," she responded and she walked out, blonde hair swaying slightly. "Now lets go."
I was dumbfounded, just staring slightly at her, mouth parted a bit. "R- right. Y- mhm."
"You're staring Ignis," she teased. "You said we have to go. So let's go!"
Sophie laughed, an amazing sound, I'd never heard it before. Every time they'd seen each other before was... well when I was trapping her in forcefields and my friends well they- well they hurt her. We had to go. Oh! We had to go!
"Let's go Foster," I teased. "We have places to be!"
"Haha," she mocked. "Just show me where to go already! Didn't you say we had 'places to be', in your words Ignis."
I rolled my eyes, and beckoned for her to follow; as they walked into the main hallway I slipped slightly and fell onto... oh no! I fell on Sophie! What did I even slip on?! Suddenly I heard a fit of giggles and whatever was supporting me shook so hard I had to stand up. I turned to see Sophie staring at me face tinted with pink because she was laughing so hard. She was spluttering and giggling so much I had to support her, and honestly, it made me blush. I shook my head, thye rea;ly had to go, so I took her wrist and guided her through the halls while she was still laughing and shaking. I'm sure my face was still red by the time we got to the meeting room so I slapped her forearm so she would stop laughing and strode in with Sophie behind me wiping tears from her eyes. I shook my head slightly smiling in the corner. Sophie too a seat beside me and pulled her hair into a messy bun, it looked really good. Her hair still had small streaks of electric blue that brought out the flecks of gold when she smiled. She told me she was going cut her hair a week after the attack so she did. Or rather she styled her hair before leaving the rest waist length. The curtain bangs she gave herself framed her arched cheekbones perfectly- and I was staring again. Sophie was smiling still recovering from her laughing fit, but suddenly it felt like the world stopped.
"We seized our victory at the capital," Gisela said loudly. "Now we will seize leadership!"
I paled and pivoted on my feet to see Sophie with a shaking hand over her mouth and a ghastly pale face. I took her hand and slowly led her out if the room bringing her to her own. I had never really been inside her room, and honestly it could use some decorating. There was one photo, of me and her. A small smile played on my lips as I led her to the bed and sat next to her. Color slowly returned to her face and a single tear dropped from her watery brown eyes. She lunged forwards wrapping her arms around me and I wrapped mine around her, I smiled and pulled away after a minute. She punched my shoulder.
"Come on Ignis," she said her melodic voice ringing through the air. "We have work to do! Grab your swords were sparring!"
I had never sparred against her, I taught her, and she was good. Really good. In fact she beat Gethen, I wasn't sure I could beat her either.
"RUY IGNIS," Sophie suddenly shouted. "Get out I have to change stupid."
I chuckled and left leaning against the closed door. I stood up straight as the door swung open to reveal Sophie wearing- a sports bra and leggings, both black. A light pink blush dusted my cheeks and she smirked laughing slightly as I walked down the long hallway. We strode side by side her long strides elegant and fast, her hips swishing from side to side. Soon we came to a black revolving door and stepped through leading to a large training room, with a sparring arena, a pool, weights, track, and other equipment. we each grabbed a sword from the long rack and Sophie spun hers in hand once twice three times before throwing up in the air by the flat of the blade catching the hilt. I whistled, nobody could do that, I didn't know she could either.
"Ten paces fight. Got it?"
"Yes ma'am."
She rolled her eyes and stepped into the center of the arena her back pressing against mine and we contend ten steps turned and fought. I s;lashed and she parried doing a back handspring trying to kick the blade out of my hand but I spun and ducked the tip of my bade so she only knocked it back. Someone walked through the door but we didn't acknowledge them and continued to fight. Sophie lunged forwards getting under my guard and swiping upwards my blade barley deflecting the strike, she stepped under my arm and twisted her blade the tip pointing to the sky and hit my wrist effectively disarming me. (Percy Jackson anyone??) I ducked and tried to grab my blade but Sophie grabbed my wrist and twisted us so she was on top of me arms pinning mine legs wrapping around my waist.
"Yield?"
"I yield," I admitted slowly. "How did you get so good, I only taught you once or twice."
"Practice Ignis, it does wonders," she told me rolling her beautiful eyes. "Now lets go!"
She hopped of me rolling onto the ground beside me before swinging her legs up and kicked herself to her feet. I just pushed myself up heading out the door after we both put our swords away. She was skipping along in the hallways whistling a random song. Suddenly she stopped and knelt breathing heavily before she clutched her head screaming out in agony. I put a hand on her shoulder and forehead. She was burning up. I picked her up bridal style carrying to her room shouting for the physician as I laid her in her bed. It was clear the agony was unimaginable as her form writhed in pain. Soon after the physician arrived carrying a bag of medicine Gisela and Gethen behind him in the doorway staring at Sophie with... was that worry. I probably had the same look in my eyes. They looked at me questioningly, before g;an ing down at my hand- which held Sophie's.
"Something happened," I said voice thick with worry. "She was happy and skipping along after our spar, before she suddenly put her hands on her knees breathing heavy. Then she clutched her head and screamed in pain. I touched her forehead and had to whip my hand away because she was burning up."
"I'll try to read her mind," Gethen offered before climbing over to my side pressing a finger to her temple and whipping his and away from the heat. "Rudy's right she's burning up!"
They both looked on in worry before Gethen closed his eyes and tried to look in her consciousness to see what was happening. He slowly opened his eyes shaking his head slightly signaling he couldn't read her mind. I flicked my hand to the right and a force field encompassed Sophies room from the wall to just after where Gisela was standing.
"Try again," I told Gethen venom laced in my voice. He shook his head. "Try again."
I said it that time with curdling my fingers inwards from where the used it be laid out flat palm to the sky. He nodded and proceeded to try again, this time breaking a small smile, before turning very, very pale. He soon had to leave. He was pestered with questions from Gisela and I as the physician worked.
"It's not her body that's the problem," he started his face getting paler. "It's the Black Swan. They broke her mind trying to get in. And she's the only one who can heal broken minds. She's gone... maybe forever."
I cried Gisela shed a tear Gethen clutched Sophie's other hand. All the people she used to hate, all the people that hated her. Were now crying because she was gone. And I cried, I cried and cried. Refused to eat never letting go of her hand, until Gethen came his eyes red from crying telling me it was time to tell the rest of the order what happened. I could see the concerned faces of every single member. All these people had grown to love Sophie as she had stayed here and now she was missing and they were concerned. And so we told them, told them her mind was broken by the Black Swan. Shouts of anger and sadness rang through the air. Threats of revenge filled the empty space. I shut my eyes tight tears streaming down my cheeks as I thought of her pale feverish form all alone in that dim room. Umber approached me about a few minutes lather her whispery voice ordering me to a\take her to Sophie's room. She said she was going to try something that may help her. Something about veils... I don't know, but if it helped Sophie. Because she was broken, wen she came here, and now she is again, just as she healed. And it was all the Black Swans fault. Anger coursed through me veins and I raced out of the room heading to the Lodestar symbol. I called for Everglen and quickly leaped into the gate. Our light was special and could leap inside- if you're wondering. I stormed inside the addler covering my face but they could still see the tears streaming down my cheeks. I kicked the door open so hard the crystal cracked and shattered and I lit my hands with energy for force fields. I snarled and searched through the the houses finally finding the young Vacker boy's room where voices were sounding, I blasted the doors open with telekinesis and marched inside a large force field surrounding them. Shouts of surprise and fear echoes and I smiled a wicked broken- evil smile. One for a sick criminal, one for a broken boy. I was the latter, because when Sophie was gone, I was broken.
"What did you do," I asked venom and anger laced through the words. They looked on in fear. "I asked. What did you do?"
"W-we broke h-her mind," The Vacker girl called. "F-four the safety o-of the B-black Swan."
"Oh I know that," I said with a maniacal chuckle that made them flinch. "But... you see. Now I'll have to kill you."
Shouts broke out and I snapped my fingers (and wiped out half the universe no sorry-) the energy slowly closing in and I curled my fingers tighter and tighter until the force field almost touched them. I smiled then and left the energy there. Another laugh bubbled in my throat and I whipped my hand out behind me trapping the adults I could hear coming. I turned to the garish abomination the called a leader and smiled. Another one of those cruel, evil smiles.
"You broke her," I told him my voice cracking and I stepped towards them each time the force around them closed tighter. "And for what? To prove your as evil as we think?! You killed her inside! Each one of those words cut deeper than a knife for her. Soon she thought she had no choice except for our order and so she came to us! To get away from you, because you, you tortured her!"
Forkle flinched and so did everyone else, I chuckle and left them there but not before making sure their bloated leader was thrown against the field. I strode out the force fields remaining until I've leapt away. And so I left smiling and laughing, I arrived at the Lodestar and walked quickly to Sophies room never once did the smile leave. When I passed people flinched, they never saw this kind of cruelty from me. And I liked hurting those things they didn't deserve to be called people. I soon arrived at the door and knocked once before walking in and saw Umber sitting in the chair. The smile dropped from my face as I ran to her side holding her hand and crying as I saw her shadowed eyes staring blankly at the ceiling. She really was broken. And I'll do anything to get her back.

Hope you enjoyed!
