Scarlett and I have been texting each other every day since we met up for coffee almost a week ago. We haven't seen each other in person again nor have we sent each other anything, but not a day passes by without me hearing from her.

It starts out with a good morning text, followed by questions of whether or not I've eaten breakfast. She sends me pictures of what she's cooking or what she's having, and pictures of her children on the dining table. I send her back the same. Sometimes I send her pictures of my parents when we're eating together and even pictures of Carmen or Roy when they are around. She often asks me if I'm working on anything. The answer is always no, but I promise her that I'll paint something soon.

"I'm going to use the paints you gave me," I'd say and she'd respond with a heart.

Sometimes when we're too busy to type we would send each other voice notes. I've gotten so many from her that I now know what she sounds like when she's energetic and when she's tired. I know what she sounds like when she's busy cooking or when she's running after Rose. I even hear Cosmo in the background often.

It's amazing really, how things have progressed between us. It's fun and it's light and it's something I didn't know I needed.

I'm not going to lie. All this back and forth with Scarlett is making me develop a crush on her. It's difficult not to when she's such a wonderful person.

Looking at my phone, I laugh when I see the photo that Scarlett sent me. It's the front of her shirt covered in baby vomit.

Scarlett
I don't know why I played with him when I knew he just finished feeding.

Instead of sending back a text, I send a voice message. "As much as I appreciate you making my day with that picture, you should really clean up. I can smell you from here."

"I'll have you know that it doesn't smell as disgusting as it looks," is her response. I can hear the sink running in the background of her voice message.

I simply laugh, leaving her to wash and change while I lounge near the pool. After a while, she sends me another picture. This time it's her wearing a clean shirt, a huge smile plastered on her face as she gives me a thumbs up. Gosh, she's adorable.

I send a picture of my own. I'm not in it, the photo simply showing our pool and the plants surrounding it.

I'm the one holding the phone, Scarlett LOL

Scarlett
Well, take a selfie. Maybe I miss your face

My breath hitches at her text. Biting down on my lip, I decide to comply. It's a bit risky but I'm feeling playful.
