I'd woken up to a thunderstorm in the middle of the night. The rain had pounded against the windows, the lightning had light up the sky and made it appear as bright as day. I'd sat up and sighed. It's not like I could sleep now with all of this noise. I turned to the clock and saw that is was 3:58 AM. I'd rolled my eyes and I'd just wanted to go back to sleep. I wish I wouldn't have to wake up and face all of the complications in my life. I'm just so stressed out. I'd lay in bed in silence just thinking deeply. I wonder if Delores can hear thunder and see the lightening. I guess I just needed to relax and clear my mind. I'd thought about happier things and I'd drifted off to sleep.
I'd waken up to the sound of my aunt walking up the stairs.
"Alison, wake up! We have to enroll you in school today!" She shouted. I'd groggily sat up and rubbed my eyes. Already? I swear, two seconds ago it was 3:58 AM.
"Ugh, okay!" I yelled back. I'd rolled out of my bed and onto the floor. The soft carpet had absorbed my face and I could just fall asleep again. I'd sat there for a few seconds and then got up. I'm not a morning person. I'd slowly walked down the stairs to be welcomed to the smell of waffles and bacon. I was pretty hungry so I hurried to the table and inhaled the nice scent.
"Hey, honey." Said my aunt. I'd gave her a nod of acknowledgement and sighed.
"I made waffles and bacon this morning." She said. I knew I smelled the scent of it. I'm a food genius.
"I can tell by the smell." I replied quietly. She'd placed a huge plate of waffles and another huge plate of bacon in the center of the table.
"Well, dig in" She said. She'd sat down and grabbed herself a couple waffles. I'd grabbed a couple waffles also and a few strips of bacon. I'd eaten slowly out of my tiredness.
"So, you ready to go to a new school?" She asked. Um, no..not really.
"Yeah, I guess." I answered. I knew I wasn't though, but at least my cousin was popular and would help me with things there. She'd smiled.
"Good. Although I still don't approve of this whole idea. I still want to call your mom." She'd said cautiously.
"Auntie, I told you..she's on a business trip..and I just need some time away from my mom is all..." I'd replied, frustrated. Auntie had nodded and slowly chewed on her food.
"Okay....I understand." She'd said unapprovingly. I could tell she didn't understand, and inside she'd still wanted to call her.. But, I won't let her. I have to live a normal life for at least a little while. I'd sighed loudly and stared at my plate. I wasn't full, but I didn't want to eat anymore. I'd stood up and threw my plate into the sink. I ran upstairs and just laid on my bed for awhile. I didn't know how to deal with this. I just wish my parents weren't so....so...abusive. I'd finally gotten up after a bit of thinking and went to take a shower. My hair was a mess and oil had accumulated on my face. I wiped it off with my finger. Ick. I'd showered and relaxed. Then, I'd washed my face and changed into a cute new outfit I got at the mall. I had to make a good impression on the kids at the school. I had to show them I wasn't a complete dork and was indeed popular girl material.
Once we'd arrived at the school, I stepped out of the car and examined it. It seemed like a nice school fromt he outside at least. I'd walked up to the school with my aunt and we'd went into the main office. The main office was big and nice and cool. It smelled of coffee and printer ink. My aunt had filled out a series of papers and I'd also filled out a few. After I was enrolled. They handed me my schedule with my locker number and combination. They'd also handed me all of my books for my classes.
"Shall we go find my locker?" I asked my aunt. She'd nodded and we'd walked down the hallways. My locker was on the 2nd floor with the rest of the juniors. I'd gotten to the second floor to see tons of kids talking and gossiping. It was just like my old school, but with a whole bunch of people I didn't know. Good thing I dressed up cutely today to make a good first impression. Everyone stared as I walked down the hall. Guys and girls. Some guys whistled at me. I flipped my wavy dirty blonde hair. I knew I looked gorgeous. Becoming popular wouldn't take that long. I'd saw my cousin and her posse and gave them a wave. They'd waved and smiled back.
