A heart's a heavy burden ~ Sophie
Caralei Romano
"Congratulations on your new breakthrough, Miss Caralei!" Cheorgette rushed to my side the moment she spotted me entering the building. Her black skirt bounced as she took a run for me with those black high heels. She didn't seem to find it hard to run on those stilettos and her whole aura was bringing sunshine everywhere in the company.
"Thank you! How did you know?"
"Marco basically was screaming when he met with the engineers and they're having a rather loud celebration in the conference room." She giggled.
"So the whole company knows?" I chuckled and even my bodyguards laughed with me.
"No ma'am. Just the right people who would know about it. They're all excited by the whole project. The Creative and Production Management are all hyped up and are already thinking on how to promote it."
"Dio! They need to hold their horses. I haven't even showed it yet for final testing!" I shook my head laughing at how the whole company were rejoicing for our new invention. Walking rather quickly, I went to the conference room only to be greeted by a crowded hallway full of clapping and shouting people.
"Okay everyone. Calm down!" I laughed and like a flash of lightning, everyone shut up and whipped their heads to me.
"OH MY GOD! Boss is here! BOSS CONGRATS!" They began to shout again and some were already trying to approach me.
"Calm down. Everyone. Calm down!" Sean ordered as everyone near me tried to shake hands with me.
"My God! What did you all drink this mornin?" I continued to laugh as I shook hands and thanked whoever were congratulating me.
"I may or may not have given them a little coffee boost." Marco screamed in reply and I laughed harder as he was trying not to drown from the sea of people in the hallway.
"What happened to you talking to them in the conference room?"
"They kinda dragged me out while we were jumping in joy, boss." He screamed again.
"Well, that was not the reaction I expected them to have." I collapsed on my chair trying to catch my breath.
"This might be the biggest breakthrough we have ever pulled in the history of our country, miss." Marco sighed while wiping his face with a handkerchief.
"I know right? I cannot wait to show this to the board and to the government to have their approval." Marco smiled at that.
"We need to do a little bit of retouching on the design before we can show it."
"Yeah. We need to make the robot look more... friendly... not like a cold... metal?" I couldn't describe it but I think Marco knew that I was implying that the robot should have a touch that would make it more approachable to humans.
"Yes. I get your point, ma'am. We can work on the design without compromising the function."
"Come back here in an hour to work on the design?" I suggested and he stood up from his seat and took a deep breath.
"I will. See you later, ma'am. I'll bring the rest of the team."
"Good. See you!" With that, he left. A second later, Cheorgette came with a glass of cold water.
"Thought you might need something to drink, miss. Do you want me to get you a lemonade? Tea perhaps?"
"Can you get me a soda? I think I need some extra sugar right now. The employees' high energy took a toll on my social battery." I laughed and she smiled nodding in understanding.
