Liam remembered everything. He remembered going out to the soccer field with Samuele. He remembered that the others wanted to drink alcohol. He remembered that he should look out for Armin. And he remembered that he had seen the future in his dreams. Liam remembered. And he wasn't sure if he was happy about it.
"So, what do you remember?" Marc asked.
Liam wasn't sure what to tell Marc, so he just told him half of the truth.
"They did share a bottle of alcohol," Liam said, "And I should watch out for Armin."
"Okay?" Marc said, "But why the fainting?"
"I wish I knew..." Liam lied.
Marc looked at Liam with mistrust.
"What?" Liam asked.
"I've seen you lying to Lucas, too," he answered, "You know more, don't you?"
Liam was stunned at how quick Marc was at distinguishing lies and truths. They had only known each other for a day, but Marc still saw right through Liam.
"I do," Liam admitted, "But, you know, it's crazy somehow."
"Just tell me what's going on, man! Next time you're collapsing, I at least want to know why!"
The door was opened again.
"Come on, Marc," Armin whispered, "You know you should go to bed after ten or at least just pretend to sleep!"
"Sorry, we'll be quiet," Marc answered.
Armin left the room. Marc got out of his bed and went to Liam's side of the room. He sat down next to him.
"So, what's going on?" he whispered.
"Okay, so you just listen to me, don't make any comments, and I swear if you laugh, I'll-"
"Just tell me now!"
"Okay," Liam said, taking a deep breath, "I think..."
Liam didn't know if he really could tell Marc everything. It was even surreal for him, so how was Marc supposed to believe any of it?
"Okay, Liam, if you don't want to tell me, fine, but then-"
"I think I've seen the future in my dream."
Silence. First, Marc had to smile, then he looked confused at Liam. He wanted to say something, but then he stopped.
"I know it's strange, but I am like 100% sure," Liam tried to explain, "I have seen tonight's situation in the dream I told you about. It all happened almost exactly as it happened in the dream. It's crazy, I know. But..."
Liam took another deep breath. He gazed at Marc, who seemed serious.
"So, you said that I wasn't in your dream, right?" Marc asked.
"Yeah."
"What a coincidence then that I had an accident and had to stay in my room today."
Liam thought about it. It indeed was strange. He felt a bit guilty about something that he couldn't have changed anyway.
"I wasn't planning your accident if that is what you're trying to say," said Liam and smiled.
"Yeah, thanks," laughed Marc, "So, you're not a psycho, good to know!"
"Or maybe I am?" Liam joked.
"No, but seriously," Marc continued, "You're telling me some weird shit here."
"Yeah... I know."
"I am not saying that I don't believe you, but you have to admit that it is a bit crazy, right?"
"It definitely is!"
"However," Marc said, dramatically raising his index finger, "Let's say that it is true."
"Okay?"
"The next time you dream something, you write it down and give it to me, okay?"
"Wait, what?" Liam asked surprised.
"I can only believe that you're a mysterious oracle if you provide me with the future before it happens!"
"But, it happened like once in my life. Usually, I don't even remember my dreams!"
"Hold on a sec!"
Marc went to his room side and took his phone. While he was going back to Liam's bed, he searched for something on the internet.
"M-hmm, mm-hmm," he said, "I see. I see."
Liam rolled his eyes.
"What are you doing?" he asked Marc.
"Shh," Marc hissed.
"Don't shh me!" Liam laughed.
"Okay, so here we go," Marc started his lecture, "On this website, the writer says that writing down one's dreams improves one's ability to remember them. And something about so-called 'lucid dreams' but I honestly don't know what that is and don't really care right now. All we need to take from this wonderful website named 'Dreamer's union" - let's just ignore the name for a sec - is that you have to write down your dreams!"
"Great," Liam says, "The only problem is that it will take ages until I finally remember one!"
"Just write down the last one," suggested Marc, "You never know."
Liam thought about it for a while.
"Fine," he said eventually, "I will write it down and give you notes of my dreams."
"Perfect!" Marc smiled.
"However," this time Liam dramatically raised his index finger and then pointed it at Marc, "You have to do it, too!"
"What? Why?"
"Just because. If you can read my dreams, then I want to do that too. And who knows? Maybe you can also see the future?"
"Yeah, I wish," Marc said, "Fine. I will do the same. But no guarantee for trauma after reading my spicy sex dreams!"
"Gross! Maybe I don't want to read them at all."
They both laughed.
"Don't worry," Marc whispered, "But we should go to bed now, shouldn't we?"
"Yeah, we probably should."
"But you need to write down your dream first!"
"Can't I do that tomorrow?"
"No, of course not, that would be a lost chance!" he said with a smile on his face and went to the bathroom.
Liam smiled too. He was glad that he shared his room with Marc. Who knows if others had reacted the same?
"Okay, so here we go," Liam said to himself and took some sheets out of his bag. "Dream No. 1 - The Campfire," he wrote down on the paper. Liam tried to write it down as detailed as possible. While writing, he thought about what if he had any dreams that weren't supposed to be heard from others? What if he dreamed about a girl? Or... a boy? Would he tell Marc? I don't know...
"Don't rush it, Liam," he said to himself, "Let's just wait for the dreams to come. Who knows if I even have some..."
Marc came out of the bathroom.
"Good night, Liam," he said, "I'm excited to hear about your dreams tomorrow!"
"Same," Liam laughed, "Good night, 'til tomorrow!"
They both went to bed and turned off the light. Liam was still thinking. He had really seen the future in his dreams. What if he one day saw something that he didn't want to see?
Again, I shouldn't think about that now. Let's hope that I have a dream tonight and that I'll remember it tomorrow!
Then, after thinking about various stuff, Liam finally fell asleep.
And he had a dream.
