February, 1995

Dear diary,

I'm really scared! Professor McGonnagall just told me that tomorrow (the morning of the 2nd task) she will petrify me, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Fleur Delacour's sister, and put us underwater with a special charm, so we'll have to wake up at 8:00 AM.I'm sure Cedric will pass this task without any problems. This might be the easiest task of the 3. Even though the merpeople can catch him and it could be dangerous.

..

It was a very odd feeling to be underwater, petrified, without seeing anything, plus being able to breathe.

It felt like I was sleeping, and it felt like eternity staying there.

Until... he came and grabbed my arm and swimmed upwards to the surface. It felt amazing to finally see again everything and everyone. As soon as we got to the dock everyone was putting towels on us and drying us up. Apparently Fleur couldn't save her sister, because she was already there and looked very worried. That means that Cedric gets 1st place! Eventually Viktor Krum came back with Hermione Granger and only Harry was late and took his time. We couldn't see anything that was happening underwater from the surface so we waited... and waited... and waited...

Eventually they came from the water. But not Harry. Only Ron and Gabrielle, Fleur's sister. Fleur looked so relieved, she helped them both to get onto the dock. But meanwhile Harry was still underwater. Everyone began to worry. Did he die? Did he drown? Nope. He rose a while after from the water and jumped directly onto the dock, spitting a lot of water from his lungs. He really was brave. Everyone had put him tons of towels, and we waited until the judges make the final decision. Poor Harry! He indeed looked like he was freezing and almost dying!

"Attention!", eventually Ludo Bagman said. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have reached our decision. Merchieftainess Murcus", I suppose he meant for one of the Merpeople, "has told us exactly what happened at the bottom of the lake, and we have therefore decided to award marks out of fifty for each of the champions,as follows...

"Miss Fleur Delacour, though she demonstrated excellent use of the Bubble-Head Charm, was attacked by Grindylows as she approached her goal, and failed to retrieve her hostage. We award her twenty-five points."

Applause from the stands.

"I deserved zero," Fleur said in a cute French accent, shaking her head. I kinda like her.

"Mr Cedric Diggory, who also used the Bubble-Head Charm, was first to return with his hostage, though he returned one minute outside the time limit of an hour."Enormous cheers from the Hufflepuffs in the crowd.

"We therefore award him forty-seven points."

I couldn't be prouder. As I smiled at him, I gave him a high-five. Oh yes, winner!

"Mr. Viktor Krum used an incomplete form of Transfiguration, which was nevertheless effective, and was second to return with his hostage. We award him forty points."

Another applause, this time from the Durmstrangs.

"Mr Harry Potter used Gillyweed to great effect," Bagman continued. "He returned last, and well outside the time limit of an hour. However, the Merchieftainess informs us that Mr Potter was first to reach the hostages, and that the delay in his return was due to his determination to return all hostages to safety, not merely his own."

Most of the judges" – here Bagman gave Karkaroff a very nasty look. – "feel that this shows moral fibre and merits full marks. However... Mr Potter's score is forty-five points."

Moral fibre... what the bloody hell does that supposed to mean? Also, him and Cedric are tied!

Moral fibre. Ok.

See what goes on with it.
