It's a day before my emancipation hearing and I couldn't be more excited and nervous.

I was meeting with my caseworker and Terry because they said they had to talk to me about something, probably just confirming if this is what I really want and blah blah blah.

I got to Terry's office and walked in greeted by both of them. "So what's up? Watcha need to talk to me about?"

"Okay, Mare, there's been a slight change of plans."

"Continue.."

"You're getting adopted."

"WHAT?! Who could possibly want to adopt me?!"

Terry and my caseworker turned to the door way and of course, it's Chad and Elizabeth followed by the Hayes, and the other two.

"Jesus Christ, of course you're here right now." I said totally upset.

"Look Amberly, we just want to help, we've found our little girl and we'd like to have you in our lives again." Chad said

"Bullshit."
"AMBERLY MARE" Terry sternly said.

"No."

I turned to the Griers, "Understand that, you two gave me away. ITS CLEAR YOU DIDNT WANT ME. YOU NEVER WANTED ME. YOU HEARD "BIRTH DEFECT" AND PRACTICALLY RAN OUT THE DOOR YOU DIDNT EVEN GIVE ME A CHANCE."

"It's more than you think Amberly" Chad said.

"NO DONT CALL ME AMBERLY NEVER CALL ME AMBERLY. IF YOU WANT TO HELP STAY OUT OF MY LIFE LIKE YOU HAVE FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS." I yelled and stormed out infuriated.

I ran, I just ran and ran until I reached a park. I sat down hugging my knees to my chest in the grass underneath a shady tree and just let the tears fall.

IF YOU WANT TO HELP STAY OUT OF MY LIFE LIKE YOU HAVE FOR THE PAST 16 YEARS." she yelled and stormed out infuriated.

"Don't worry, she'll come around when she's ready." Her social worker said.

I decided to go after her without thinking about it. I ran out and started running up the sidewalk following behind her.

dang she can run

She finally stopped when she reached a park. She sat down underneath a tree and started to cry.

I slowly approached her and placed my hand on her back, sitting down next to her she looked up at me and wiped her cheeks.

"What do you want." she said, her voice shakey. "We haven't properly met, I'm Nash." I said holding my hand out.

"I don't want to talk to you." she said looking away.
"Harsh."
"Yup, get used to it, if your parents actually go through with this."

"Why wouldn't they? They're your parents too." I said, she shook her head.

"Define a parent." she started to say. "Sure they're the people who gave you a life, but they're also supposed to be the ones to help you up when you fall down, the ones who love you no matter what. They've never been parents to me and they never will." I didn't know what to say.

"They gave me up because there was something wrong with me, and like I said, parents are supposed to be the ones who love you no matter what. Even if you had a fixable birth defect." she mumbled the last part.

"Have you ever heard their side to the story To why they couldn't keep you?" I asked her. She looked at me with tear-stained cheeks and glossy eyes, and shook her head no.
