C H A P T E R 3

I gave myself the once over in the mirror as prepared to leave.  I was wearing a black short sleeve crop top with a neckline reaching just below my collarbones, and high waisted denim shorts in a dark blue wash.  I decided to slip on my white converse high tops, in case I had to walk home, and also cause walking in heels was not my strongest suit.

"Lets go alreadyyy" Matt whined from the room.

I quickly checked my makeup again and pushed my fresh waves forward so that they framed my face as I left the bathroom.

"Hey slowpoke lets go" Matt said as he poked my arm.  Chelsea already left with his roommate earlier, Thatcher, who by the looks of it was smitten with her.

"Haha alright lets get this show on the road." I said with a sly smile.

"So where are you from?" He asked as he unlocked his car, his voice echoing through the underground parking lot.

"Tacoma, Seattle. You?"

"Good Ol' Cali"

"Really? You look pretty pale for a Cali boy" I said with a smirk as I stepped into the passenger seat of his mustang.  "Nice car by the way, I've always wanted one of these."

"Yeah, I got it for my 18th birthday last year.  My parents thought that I should get one, so the girls would think I'm cool." He winked.

"Well they were right." I laughed

He slowly drove out of the car park and proceeded down the main road.  My eyes immediately began to take in my surroundings, the bright streetlights, the palm trees on both sides of the road, the hot air, and the clear night sky.  I loved moments like these, they made me feel nostalgic and bittersweet, both which I loved.  I began to sing along as "Don't You Want Me" came onto the radio.

"I love this song!" I exclaimed, earning a laugh from Matt.

"What is this? It sounds old, like 50's old"

"Are you kidding me? This was like THE biggest hit in the 80's, literally the best song ever." I said with wide eyes.

"Okay?" he shrugged.  Feeling embarrassed, I sank back into my seat and continued to hum along while I looked out the window.

After what seemed like an hour, we finally pulled into a big frat house.  Big couldn't even begin to describe it.  It was a frickin' castle.

"Whoa." I whispered.

"Yeah, whoa is right. This is the biggest frat house on the campus, housing the richest and most arrogant bastards in this whole school.  But damn do they throw good parties." Matt grinned.
