A gentle tapping on his arm woke Thomas from his surprisingly peaceful sleep. Normally, he would jump up and attack the person, but he smelled the familiar scent of his father. He opened his eyes, to see Noah leaning over him, with a small smile.
Minho is here, the Sheriff signed to his son.
Here's the thing. Between all the gunfire, explosions, not to mention the supernatural stuff, Thomas had lost his hearing in his right ear, and some in his left. 'Some' meaning he will occasionally hear a ringing and voices will be so muffled he could barely make out what they're saying. It was easier with the people who he was close with, for some reason. He didn't trust devices since WICKED and so he had taken up ASL.
Only a few people knew he was partially deaf, though, making him have to lip reading. The few people include his father, the survivors, and Melissa. It's amazing that his 'pack' had yet to realize, even though it had been months since he had returned.
Minho and the other Gladers and Scorchers had moved into a house a few towns over, and they would hang out regularly. Today though, Minho was coming so Thomas could carpool to school and then show him around.
Thomas nodded, and his father left, letting him get ready. Going through his morning routine, he hummed the song him and Newt always danced to by the bonfires.
He missed the blonde boy the most out of their fallen friends. He had to shoot his best friend, the person who he had been in love with, in the head to put him out of his misery. He felt terrible, but it was what he had been asked to do.
As he walked down the stairs, he faintly heard voices coming from the kitchen. He could recognize that it was his father, talking to Minho.
He waved at them as he walked into the room. Yes, he could talk, but he saved that for school and the McCall pack, because he liked to save his energy.
"Hey, Thomas," Minho said, his voice as muffled as always. "Ready for school?"
Yes, dad, he signed. Who knew that you could be sarcastic through sign language? Trust Thomas, formerly Stiles "sarcasm is my only defense" Stilinski, to find a way.
Minho rolled his eyes. "Okay, shuckface, no need for the sass."
Thomas laughed, a rare sound that could only be heard around a survivor. His dad then told them they had to go if they didn't want to be late, and they hopped into the old blue jeep parked out front.
"I think it's bullshit that I have to go to school but, Gally, Fry, Brenda, Aris, Sonya, and Hariet don't," Minho complained, and for once, Thomas was glad he was muffled. "I mean..." Thomas turned the vehicle on and it drowned out the old Keeper of the runners voice.
On the drive, Thomas glanced over at Minho multiple times to see him still ranting about how 'it wasn't fair' and 'we've already learned this klunk from WICKED' which was true. The brown haired boy didn't mind though, the pack barely noticed when he wasn't there and so he would sneak off and hide, sitting in his thoughts or reading things.
With Minho being here, however, he had a better chance at having fun.
Pulling into a parking spott, they got out, Minho now muttering indistinct things under his breath. Sighing, they both made their way to the front desk, getting Minho signed in and then walking towards their first class. Coincidentally, they had all the same classes (Thomas silently thanked his dad).
When they were walking down the hallway, a voice called out from behind. "Stiles!" Thomas didn't turn around, having not heard, but Minho did. He remembered something Noah had said earlier.
"Before...WICKED, um, Thomas was called Stiles. And he had this group of...'friends' that never really cared about him. They, uh, they don't know about him being...hard of hearing or about WICKED. Just thought I would warn you."
Minho nudged Thomas, who turned and sighed, seeing Scott hurrying down the hall to meet them. "Scott, hey," he said quietly, his voice raspy from not using it, but Scott didn't notice. Some best friend he is.
"Hey, uh, I need-" the werewolf stopped abruptly after spotting the Asian boy. "Who's this?"
"This is Minho, he's my friend." His voice was still quiet, but had gotten clearer. "He's new so I'm showing him around."
"Friend?" Scott seemed confused by this, making Minho squint at him. "You have friends other than the pack?"
Oh, right. They're not human. Noah had also mentioned that this morning, and Thomas had told many stories of his time before the Maze.
"Yes, he does," the runner steps forward to defend his best friend. "Why is that such a surprise?" His words had an unspoken threat, daring the McCall boy to continue to disrespect the person who led the survivors to safety.
"No, I-I," Scott tried to explain himself, but stuttered, before remembering that he was the True Alpha. Why am I scared of a human? "I just don't see him hanging out with anyone else, is all."
"Mm," Minho hummed, but let the subject go when Thomas put his hand on his arm.
"What did you need?" Thomas was now trying to get away from his old Alpha.
"Oh, right." He seemed to remember the reason he had come. "I need you to research this for me." He pulled out a sheet of paper, with notes, and a picture.
Thomas just nodded, over this interaction, and took the paper, motioning Minho to follow him as he started walking towards the classroom. He looked at the paper and paused in his steps, holding a hand out for the other boy to stop as well.
The leader shoved the sheet into the keeper of the runners face and watched as his face changed from confused to shocked to scared to resolute.
He looked directly into Thomas' eyes, and said, "How did he get this?"
I don't know, he signed.
"Okay, well, how do we stop them? Again, I mean, we already did once." He was right.
Together. Thomas had a determined look in his eyes and on his face, looking at Minho with a hidden fury that wouldn't be noticeable unless you had been with him for as long as he had, and been through the same shit as him.
They both nodded before looking back down to the page, more specifically the picture.
The picture of a crank that looked suspiciously like Ratman, aka Janson.
Sup, bitches. It's your favorite person, Kels
This is yet another Teen Wolf x The Maze Runner crossover, except this one is a story, not a oneshot.
Originally I wasn't going to have a problem and instead focus on Thomas/Stiles getting used to his life + Minho at school but then I had the amazing idea of the crank that's Janson and thought 'why not'
I might do a different story where it's that and it focuses more on him being deaf.
I got the deaf idea from: @NyaGordon-X
Go check them out, they have amazing fics.
So enjoy this shot (maybe) fic.
Till the next chapter, people.
