"My name's Gray!" the girl volunteered.
Charles blinked. She had choppy gray hair, gray eyes, wearing a black tank top, shorts, and black sneakers. The hair and eyes sort of gave it away.
"Sorry, confusion. Right," the girl apologized. "My name's Grayson Woods. Don't ask," she added grumpily.
"Oh-kay," Charles mumbled.
"My name's Jace Parker," the boy said. He had unkept black hair and chocolate brown eyes, glasses, and he wore a simple white tee, jeans, and blue sneakers. They both looked about thirteen, one year older than Charles.
"You homeless?" Grayson Woods asked.
Charles shook his head.
Grayson Woods and Jace Parker exchanged confused glances.
"Then what're you doing here?" said Jace Parker. "No offense."
"None taken," Charles told him. "Well, I'm here because... I... sort of... ran away."
Grayson's eyes widened. "You did what?"
"Look, Grayson..."
"Call me Gray, before I punch you in the face."
"Gray!" Jace chided.
"Sorry. Okay, first of all, who are you?"
"Charles Luke Jackson," Charles replied.
"Now tell us why you ran away."
Charles told them everything. Gray squinted at him. "So let me get this straight. You saw a shadow, left your baby sister Annalise all alone, and ran away."
Charles nodded. "That pretty much sums about it."
"Well," Jace interrupted, "at least we got a new teammate."
Gray shrugged. "Good enough for me."

AventuraHey pals. Unfortunately this won't be in a book so this is a limited edition on Wattpad. But this MIGHT be in one of my books. Thanks again for all the support :) I do not own some of the stuff in this story, they belong to Rick Riordan.
