That day, a centaur came up to them.

Jace almost passed out.

Gray snorted.

Charles blinked.

The centaur blinked, too.

"Hi," Charles said.

"Hello," said the centaur.

"Uhm, my name's Charles Jackson."

The centaur raised his brow. "Indeed?"

"Charles Luke Jackson."

. . .

Charles decided he loved Capture the Flag. It was fun, with that cool armor and all. Gray grinned as she examined her sword, made personally by the Hephaestus Cabin.

"This is gonna be fun," Gray sneered.

Charles gulped.

Jace rolled his eyes and Gray smacked him.

"Ow..."

They walked sluggishly through the creek. Gray muttered some Italian curses as she shook the water off her sneakers.

They went out of the lake and found the opposing team's flag. Charles walked out completely dry.

Gray gaped at him.

Gray ran and nearly got the flag, but spikes shot up from the ground and cut her hand. She yelped.

"Hephaestus gits!" she yelled.

Jace scowled. "I got this--"

"No," she snapped. "I know what to do."

"What?"

She dug in the ground. "Charles, get some water."

"Um, okay," he said. He scooped up some water and gave it to her.

She splashed it onto the ground and there was a sound of electricity crackling.

She scoffed and smirked. "Those bloody gits forgot to make 'em waterproof."

The spikes disappeared.

Jace got the flag.

Their team cheered: "JACE! JACE! JACE!"

He didn't give Gray or Charles any credit.

Gray fumed. "HEY! SHUT UP!"

They shut up.

"I can fight, too, you know," Gray said.

Jace scoffed. "It's not normal for girls to fight. Especially weak ones."

Gray tossed her helmet onto the floor. Charles got it and retreated.

Gray let out a harsh laugh. It was really intimidating. "Then I wouldn't be here, douchebag."

The other campers backed away. Gray unsheathed her sword and pointed its tip to Jace's face.

"I, Gray Woods, challenge you, Jace Parker, to a duel, at four o'clock sharp."

The campers gasped and one Demeter girl fainted.

Hovering above Gray and Jace's heads were symbols--for Gray, a hammer and an owl, for Jace, a lyre.

"Why should I be following you?" Jace asked.

Gray grinned cruelly. "Cause I'm a girl boss."
