Alec's pov:

I slowly made my way out of the shop without sparing a glance st my surroundings.

The only things i could focus on were the still prominent pain in my shoulder blades and the heaviness of my body.

I felt exhausted.

I just wanted to curl up with Magnus in our bed and sleep forever.

A small smile automatically formed on my face as i thought about him.

Even though it hurts, and i know my life will never be the same again, i still don't regret what i just did.

Knowing that he'll be able to get back his happiness.

That's all i need.

I can get used to this new normal.

Being the head of the institute has it's perks. I don't need to be out in the feild that much.

So i can hide it for a while. Of course, until someone else notices.

But I'll make sure that won't be anytime soon.

I took a deep breath and pushed my hands into my pockets as i looked up at the sky.

I'll definitely miss being able to soar freely in the sky.

It will take a while to get used to being permanently grounded.

But i can do it as long as i have Magnus and my family.

I'll be fine.
.
.
.
The smell of delicious food greeted me as i went into our loft.

I toed off my shoes before going in.

A smile formed on my face when i saw him working around in the kitchen cooking.

He was humming a familiar Indonesian song that he usually hums when he's in a good mood.

I could feel the pain in my shoulder blades and the heaviness of my body melting away as I watched him.

I slowly went up behind him making sure to not make any kind of noise.

He jumped and dropped the spatula he was holding when i snaked my arms around his waist.

"Alexander! You almost gave me a heart attack!" He smacked my head lightly and gave me a side glare.

I chuckled propping my chin on his shoulder.

"Sorry."

"You're not sorry at all." He deadpanned.

I grinned. "Busted."

He flicked my forehead making me yelp softly.

But i still didn't let him go.

"What are you making?" I asked glancing at the pot on the stove.

"It's an Indonesian dish. Since someone was so adamant this morning about wanting to eat my cooking for dinner, i had to make it worthwhile." He chuckled taking the spatula he dropped from the counter and going back to stirring.

"It smells delicious. Thank you." I tightened my arms around his waist and smooched his cheek.

"Ok ok. Now go get freshened up and let me finish this." He laughed pushing me away.

I had a proud smile on my face as i went into our bedroom.

His smile looked genuine for the first time in days.
