Alec's pov:

I couldn't help but chuckle as i was dragged by hand through the market by sweetpea.

She was hopping and giggling as she ran.

She may have grown up a lot during the last 50 years but she's still that small girl in my eyes.

I squeezed Magnus' hand which i was holding in my other hand.

He gave my hand a light squeeze back as well.

.........

We finally came to a stop infront of a dessert shop a few minutes later.

"This place has delicious desserts!" Sweetpea squealed excitedly.

"Oh, that's quite true. I've tried some of their desserts and am quite a big fan." Magnus nodded in agreement.

"Well then, we can't waste anymore time here, can we?" I chuckled, pulling them both with me as i went inside.

.............

We sat down at a table after ordering.

"Is your name still the same?" Magnus asked.

"Yup. I'm still Alexander. I don't have a surname or anything though." I answered honestly.

They both gave me confused looks at that.

"You don't have a surname? Why?" Sweetpea.

"Well, because i wasn't exactly reborn into a new body with a new family or anything like that. So it's not like i have a new identity." I shrugged.

They both looked confused at that but didn't ask anymore.

It's not the type of thing we can discuss out in public like this after all.

.............

I breathed deeply as i stepped out of the portal and into my home.

I've missed this place so much.

It hasn't changed even a bit.

Still exactly the same as i remember.

"So, you weren't reborn into a new body? But you definitely look like a completely different person." I looked behind me when i heard Magnus speak.

He was staring at me with an intent expression.

Madzie said she'll come over later since she has some work.

We made her promise to keep this a secret from everyone else for now.

Oh, he's definitely not going to be happy about this...

"I wasn't exactly reborn. More like... modified?" I tilted my head as i tried to come up with a word for it.

He frowned. "What?"

"First, promise me you won't get mad." I raised my hands.

His frown deepened and i could see alarm rising in his expression. "Alexander. What did you do?"

"Promise." I pushed.

"I'm not making that promise. What the fuck did you do?" He snapped back.

I bit my lips.

Should have known...

"Ok fine. So after i died... I obviously went to heaven... But instead of stepping through the gates and actually going in, i stayed outside." I slowly started explaining.

He looked anxious at this point but didn't say anything as he waited for me to continue.

"So a few angels came to see why i wouldn't go in. I said i didn't want to go in because i wanted to come back here. Not stay in heaven. They were really confused about why i wanted to abandon eternal rest and come back here. But before they could come up with what to say back, another angel came. Gabriel. One of the archangels." I stopped at that point and looked at him nervously.
