Attending the same college is the only thing Sebastian Hutches and Tara Van Doren have in common.
To Sebastian, Tara is a rich, spoiled girl, obsessed with her looks and status.

I'm in a state of bliss after the weekend Bast and I spent holed up in our apartment. Although my energy levels are low after the night of sex and not enough sleep, I manage to pay attention in General Psychology.
Leah is a different story. She spends the lecture yawning and barely takes notes.
"You okay?" I ask when the class is over.
"Ugh." She massages her temples. "I'm drained, and we did nothing all weekend, just stayed in because Brian needed to study."
So did Bast, but the only anatomy he studied was mine.
I force myself to stop thinking about him and refocus on Leah as I collect my pens and shove them into my purse. "What about your internship with professor Lee?"
"Starting soon. I can't wait. Can I borrow your notes?"
"Here." I hand her my notebook. "Maybe you need vitamins. You've felt tired for a while."
"Maybe." Leah presses my notes to her chest. "Thank you. Hope Accounting is easy."
"Fingers crossed."
I kiss Leah's cheek as we say goodbye. I need to go to the Science Building for my next lecture, and I'm meeting Bast at the library afterward.
It scares me that I already miss him. I'm getting attached, and it's both exhilarating and nerve-wracking, like a roller-coaster ride.
Groups of students are scattered around the quad. I cross it and quicken my stride as I turn left. My destination is farther down the street, sitting opposite the parking lot. I scan the parked cars, and my chest seizes up.
Ian is leaning against his Benz, strong arms folded over his chest. My biggest mistake in flesh, blood, and an Armani suit.
Our gazes collide, and nerves singe my composure.
He pushes off the vehicle. "Atla."
My breath cowers in my lungs. I could keep walking, but I know he'll chase after me, and making a scene on campus isn't on my to-do list.
I readjust the strap of my purse on my shoulder and approach him. "Ian."
"How are you?" he asks. "You disappeared on Thursday."
"I didn't want to be there." I gather enough courage to look him in the eyes. "What do you want?"
One side of his mouth tilts up in a smirk. "Such a futile question for someone so smart, Atla. Did you really think I wouldn't want to see you after everything?"
"It's in the past."
Ian bites his lip and runs his hand over the stubble on his jaw. "I just-"
"Tara!"
I gyrate toward the sound of Sadie's voice.
"Hi." She beams, catching up to me. "Are you going to class?"
