Chapter 34: Mission Failed

(Y/n) stumbled his way over to Kimimaro. Swinging his sword as if it was a dace of sorts. (Y/n) remained on the offense sending a barrage of unpredictable attacks over and over again. Every time Badger saw an opening he would attack scratching or biting Kimimaro pulling some of his skin off which barely fazed him.

"That stuff sure tasted different." (Y/n) said sloppily. "I am... getting sort of..." (Y/n) sent one last attack before falling onto his back. Both Badger and Kimimaro stopped to look at him.

"You still alive?" Badger asked. The made his way over to (Y/n) and put an ear to his chest. Kimimaro walked over with his bone sword in hand. He raised it into the air above (Y/n)'s head and slammed it down.

"Too slow!" (Y/n) yelled out.

Badger jumped onto Kimimaro's face and sunk his claws deep into his face. (Y/n) jumped onto his feet and grabbed his sword.

"Did you really think that one tiny bottle of Sake would take me out?" (Y/n) asked sarcastically. (Y/n) rushed in and attempted to slice Kimimaro across the chest. But, a large bone emerged from his chest and pierced (Y/n) through the chest. 

The bone retracted from his chest and went back inside Kimimaro who at this point had gotten Badger off his face. Kimimaro coughed up a large amount of blood but shook it off. 

So, it seems the longer he uses the curse mark or whatever, the more it drains him. 

(Y/n) thought to himself. He activated his back lightning cloak. Then, (Y/n) poured Anti-Chakra into his blade turning it as dark as the night sky. He held it in his sheath and looked at Kimimaro. A giant bone began wrapping around his arm. It was way bigger than Kimimaro's entire body, but he was holding it like a piece of paper. 

(Y/n) his hands together and created a shadow clone. (Y/n), his clone and badger stood about 20 meters away from Kimimaro. The clone rushed at Kimimaro and threw a kunai which just missed him. The clone was easily dispatched.

In a puff of smoke, the kunai switched places with (Y/n) who used the substitution jutsu on it. Kimimaro turned around and showed his giant bone Drill in (Y/n)'s face. But, another puff of smoke happened, and (Y/n) transformed into Badger.

The real (Y/n) came from above and sliced across Kimimaro's chest. Blood was sprayed everywhere. (Y/n) then used his leg to kick Kimimaro away from him and Badger.

"Are you alright?" (Y/n) asked Badger. 

"Better than ever," he replied. 

(Y/n) looked over to Kimimaro who was coughing up blood violently.

This is probably his last attack...

(Y/n) watched as the giant bone drill faded into a small bone sword again. He held it in front of him and (Y/n) did the same with his sword. Kimimaro weakly rushed at (Y/n) with his sword raised. (Y/n) stood in where he was awaiting Kimimaro.

As Kimimaro reached (Y/n) he stopped in his tracks. Blood spilled out of Kimimaro's mouth. He looked down to see a blade piercing through his chest. A blade covered in Anti-Chakra.

Kimimaro stumbled backward holding the hole in his chest. He fell onto his back slowly bleeding out. 

"Oro...chimaru..." he weakly said. He took his last breath before closing his eyes slowly and looking up at the clouds.

Naruto and Sasuke stand away from each other. Sasuke has the curse mark taking full effect over his body. And Naruto has the bubbly red chakra of the Nine Tails covering his body. But, there was only one tail around him. 

Sasuke stood next to the monument of the Ghost of the Uchiha. Madara Uchiha.

And Naruto stands next to the monument of the God of the Shinobi. The First Hokage, Hashirama Senju.

Sasuke held onto his left forearm and focused Lightning Chakra on it. The sound of one thousand birds chirping rang throughout the Vally of the End.

Naruto held his hand out forming a Rasengan, but it was different than normal. It was purple and was a mix of regular chakra and Nine-Tails chakra. 

The two leaped into the air at each other.

"Chidori!" Sasuke yelled out. 

"Rasengan!" Naruto yelled. But, this was the Vermillion Rasengan.

The two jutsu clashed creating a giant explosion. Their bodies were sent flying. Both of them thought back to all the times when they were fighting against each other during the academy.

Once the dust settled Sasuke is seen standing over an unconscious Naruto. Rain began falling. Sasuke looked into the sky his three tomoe Sharingan staring endlessly.

(Y/n) is seen on a hospital bed next to Naruto. The two both have bandages wrapped around their bodies with Naruto having more than (Y/n).

"I couldn't do it," Naruto said. "I couldn't bring Sasuke back."

(Y/n) looked over to his friend. "Don't worry. Next time we run into Sasuke we'll bring him back." (Y/n) said giving Naruto a thumbs up. 

The two sat up and looked out the window. 

Yeah... next time

(Y/n) is seen walking through the village with bandages still wrapped around his body.

"There you are," Karin said from behind him. "I've looked everywhere for you."

"Oh, hey... are you..."

"Yeah. It's a bummer, but maybe we'll see each other soon," she told (Y/n). The two stood there awkwardly for a few seconds.

"Welp, until next time, Karin." (Y/n) said waving her off.

Karin walked off to go meet up with the rest of her team. (Y/n) looked down at the ground as he walked away. He made it back to his apartment only to get stopped by Miyamoto.

"Good seeing ya, kid," he told (Y/n).

"Yeah." (Y/n) replied quietly. 

"You sad you couldn't bring your friend back?" he asked. "You'll be fine. That's all a part of being a Shinobi."

(Y/n) nodded his head. "Yeah, but maybe we could've done it if I was stronger or faster."

"Perhaps there is something we can do about that." (Y/n) raised an eyebrow. "Maybe leave the village for a year or two and go train. I could teach you a lot more out there than while we're stuck here."

Miyamoto stuck out his hand like he was making a deal of sorts. (Y/n) stared at him for a moment before accepting it. 

"Sure. I guess we can leave for a year or two," he said.  

Miyamoto smiled and let out a bit of a laugh. "Then you better start packing!"
