The next school day, as I was locking my bike on the bike rack outside, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I turned, seeing Seonghwa there, smiling and holding up a brown paper bag.
"Hey! I got you a donut from a nearby bakery, I hope you like glazed by the way."
"Of course I do! That's like, the best donut flavor." I responded, smiling and accepting the bag.
"Thanks by the way. You really didn't have to get me anything."
"No no, don't worry about it, it's my pleasure. I figured if we're gonna become friends I need to butter you up a little more." He chuckled, and I giggled at his response.
"I see, I see. Well, if this means I get to have a free donut every morning then please continue. The buttering is very very flattering, keep it up pal!" I patted the top of his head, earning a laugh from the male.
We made our way into the school building, walking through the halls and eventually reaching the cafeteria.
As soon as we stepped foot in the large room, I instantly remembered the altercation that took place here the other day, when I practically broke off that rapist's nose. I clenched my fist at the thought of him still walking around the halls a free man.
As if he could read my thoughts, Seonghwa turned to me, a bit of concern in his eyes.
"Hey, you alright? You look upset about something."
"No no I'm ok....just thinking hard about something..."
"Well do you-"
Before he could finish his sentence, a "Chaeyoung!" caught my attention, and I turned to see Taeyong walking towards us, waving and smiling.
"Oh, hey!" I waved back, hugging him when he got closer to us.
"Taeyong, this is Seonghwa, he's kind of my knight in shining armor." I watched the two shake hands.
"Nice to meet you man." Taeyong greeted Seonghwa, and Seonghwa said the same back to him in return.
"It's good that you're her knight in shining armor Seonghwa. Now I can have a break from taking care of this child 24/7." Taeyong said as he ruffled my hair, resulting in me groaning out load and swatting his hands away.
"Taeyong!! I can take care of myself you know!" I argued back, crossing my arms over my chest.
"Says the girl who crashed into my fence and had to be practically stitched up by yours truly." Seonghwa piped up, grinning from ear to ear.
Taeyong let out a hearty laugh, soon responding with a "What?" after, leaving my ears red hot with slight embarrassment.
"D-don't worry about it-- are we gonna get breakfast or not??" I answered swiftly to dismiss the topic, dragging the two behind me and joining the breakfast line.
After we all selected our breakfast options, we made our way to a table near the windows (one of my favorite spots) and sat down.
Seonghwa and I sat with our backs facing the front doors, while Taeyong sat in front of Seonghwa and faced us, having a clear view of the front entrance to the cafeteria.
As we were eating and chatting, I noticed that Taeyong had stopped talking as much as we were. I looked up at him from eating my bagel, and his eyes were trained behind us.
He seemed to be distracted, looking at something, or maybe someone. He squinted, as it trying to get a better view.
Soon, his eyes widened a bit, and he looked my way, our eyes locking.
