10 YEARS AGO, CHAEYOUNG'S ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

"Now Chaeyoung, you know you can't hit other kids!" Chaeyoung's teacher scolded her, while the kid she hit sniffled and held her cheek, hiding behind the teacher's legs.

"B-but...she stole my glow in the dark markers Mrs. Choi, I know she did! She was the only one I showed them to, and she told me how cool they were and how she wanted some like those! Then after lunch, they were gone!"

"I-I didn't steal! She's lying! She always lies!!" Chaeyoung's classmate Dahyun exclaimed in a whiny manner, whimpering when Chaeyoung sent a glare her way.

"Both of you, zip it! We are not leaving this classroom until I find out which one of you is not telling the truth." Mrs. Choi said sternly, grabbing the two girl's hands and leading them to Dahyun's desk.

"Check her pencil pouch Mrs. Choi, they're definitely in there!" Chaeyoung crossed her arms, a look that said "you're totally busted now!" written all over her face.

Mrs. Choi complied, reaching into Dahyun's desk and pulling out her pencil pouch, opening it and rummaging through.

To Chaeyoung's dismay, when Mrs. Choi grabbed onto the contents in the pouch and pulled them out, her markers weren't there.

"I...what? N-no wait, I know she took them! She had to! Believe me Mrs. Choi!" She pleaded, feeling bamboozled that she wasn't right. She just knew that Dahyun had them.

Mrs. Choi sighed, zipping the pouch up and looking through Dahyun's desk one more time before standing up straight, looking down at the two girls.

"Chaeyoung, she doesn't have the markers. I can't believe you would lie like this! Not only that, but you hit poor Dahyun! You know that's against the rules!" Mrs. Choi pulled the crying girl in for a hug, Dahyun still whimpering like a sad puppy.

"I have no choice," She continued, "I'm going to have to call your Mother."

Chaeyoung's eyes widened when she heard those words come from her teacher's mouth, and it felt like time completely stopped.

"No! You don't have to call her, I'll say sorry to Dahyun and take a time out for the rest of the day! Please!"

"I'm sorry sweetie, but this is what happens when you misbehave and don't follow the rules like a good girl." And with that, Mrs. Choi whipped out her phone, scrolling to Chaeyoung's Mom's contact, which was already in her phone due to Chaeyoung's other "incidents".

All young little Chaeyoung could do was sit there and become fearful of the near future, and as her eyes locked onto Dahyun, she saw the other girl smirk, for her little lie had worked, and she got to keep the markers after all.

35 MINUTES LATER, THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE

Chaeyoung twiddled her thumbs nervously as she sat in one of the big chairs in front of the Principal's desk.

The Principal, Mr. Moon, sighed as he observed the girl.

"Don't be nervous, it'll be alright. Ok?"

Chaeyoung nodded, even though she knew that nothing would ever really be ok when it came to her.

Right on cue, there was a knock on the door, and Chaeyoung heard her Mom's voice call out to the people waiting inside the room.
