What happens after death?
Answer: No one knows as they're dead

Marigold Dorea Potter thought it would be peaceful, surrounded by the people who brought her into the world and finally have that life she always wanted.
Don't get her wrong, her life was one mess after another, but she found the family she never had and even if she had to do it all over again. Marigold would have done the same, well maybe try and use the brain cells from her mother instead of her father.

She knew her life was going to end in the war, it was inevitable. It was written before she even breathed, and so giving up her life in hopes of no more death was a no-brainer.
It went exactly to plan, her last goodbye to the family she found, the final goodbye to the one she lost.
Walk into the forest, as the 'Forbidden' part she always took as a suggestion, taunt the No nose arsehole with a wicked smirk and die.

Simple

Then add in 'Potter Luck'

Or in other words, Dumbledore shoving her back to the land of the living with a knowing twinkle in his eyes

Waking up on the forest floor was an experience.
It felt wrong
The mud felt too tacky, the grass wasn't the right shade of green, and even the air smelled damp.

Everything. Was. Wrong

She knew she was Marigold, but then not. Yes, she technically cheated death.
Did she want to? No! Could she do anything about it? Perhaps when hell froze.
Fate apparently decided even in death, Marigold was too fun to stop playing with

For once she waited, well that was what it looked like. Actually, it was a 17-year-old having her 10th midlife crisis, her crowded mind was spinning. And the main thought was shouting "Why am I alive"

So, she waited for the moment as dramatic entrance as possible and make up a plan as she went along.
Or like how she handled life: Strutting into the problem and bullshit for her life.
It has worked so far

After the light show of a lifetime, Lord Voldemort was dead.
Not Tom Riddle, as he died the moment the first Horcrux was made. The moment his soul was severed in half, the 16-year-old Slytherin Prefect died.
What was fading into dust was a soulless husk of a man.

It's true what they say, Nature does find balance
Unfortunately, after 2 wars, many lines were wiped out, magical blood almost a quarter of what it should be, and definitely being exposed to humans who fear what is unnatural.
Nature balanced themselves out

Marigold, however, felt empty. No happiness, no guilt, no relief.
Just numb

That was until her fingertips were wrapped around the bone-white wood of the elder wand. It was like coming up for air. Marigold craved it. That was what lead her back to the clearing where she was killed. Picking up the cloak and the stone on the way. Disappearing into death's embrace

Well, that's how the story went.
A fitting end, people would say for generations.

Obviously, people thought she fled in cowardice, or died in that forest, or was still living in the shadows.
Lives were being rebuilt, not just the buildings. Eventually, people learned to live with the war still clinging to them, it was harder for people to remember who they were. But they had to find who they were now.

Ron and Hermione married and had children, carrying on the Evans tradition of naming girls after flowers for their fallen sister.
Ron became a very well-known Chef after refusing to do anything related to his time on the run and Hermione became the best and youngest Minister of Magic

Teddy lived with his grandmother living on the stories of his parents and the mischief of the Marauder legacy and did the one thing his father never did.
Accept himself

George and Angelina had their first and second child before marriage. They didn't mean to, they didn't have sex because they were in love, it took years for that realisation to occur.
They needed comfort as Angelina lost her first love and George lost his soul mate his other half.

Draco lost everything the moment he was forced to take the mark, even his life. He couldn't live without knowing what he had endured and was forced to do on a daily basis.
Surprisingly, he left Britain, in fact, the Wixen world altogether. He found the love of his life with a male Muggle primary teacher and followed in his mother's footsteps in becoming a doctor.

Luna found a Crumple Horned Shortsnak with her husband and 3 children. Who grew up knowing, seeing the truth about what was about to happen or did with Marigold

Neville got his mastery in Herbology and returned to Hogwarts to be the head of Gryffindor house along with the herbology professor

They all moved on, but they all remembered Marigold even on their deathbeds
All waiting to reunite with each other

But what no one knew was Marigold never died twice that day. Just the once as she closed her eyes hoping for death once again. And she did, only to wake up surrounded by trees. Again

This time the world felt right
Right time, right day, right month
Wrong year
