Nate was crying from the other room while I was in the kitchen with Hayley.
Hayley smiled and patted my arm while I sighed and dropped my head forward.
"And here I thought you two were good with kids," Hayley teased.
"We are just... I'm so tired and my boobs hurt from breast feeding, seriously he can eat a lot."
Nate kept crying
"Kol, please!" Klaus shouted, probably to wake Kol up. We haven't had much sleep unless Nate was asleep.
"Good luck,' Hayley said as I began making my way out of the kitchen.
I walked into the room where Klaus, Kol, and Elijah were in and saw a girl sprawled on the coffee table. Kol was reading to our son while Elijah and Klaus were reading independently. Rebekah walked in and scoffed.
"So this is what you do the first time we're together as a family, vampire book club?" Rebekah said. "You even got poor Nathaniel involved."
"Reading trains the mind, sister, isn't that right, Elijah?'
"Yes, that's quite right Niklaus," Elijah said as I sighed.
"Then who the hell was this idea? Seriously there's a dead girl on the table with a baby present." I said.
"It was a peace offering," Kol replied and I can see he was dozing off because his eyes were closed while Nate lay in his arms. I walked over to him and took Nate from Kol which woke him. "Apparently it's the only way he can apologize after letting his runts kill me in hopes of getting the cure, and for daggering Elijah."
Nate's crying stopped once he was in my arms to which Kol looked at me in disbelief.
"So we explained to Niklaus that forgiveness can not be bought," Elijah said never looking up from his book. "We'd simply like to see a change of behavior that indicates constriction and personal growth, not this nonsense."
"Well, I very well couldn't let her go to waste, could I?" Klaus said.
"Would it kill you to actually apologize?" I asked Klaus.
"Very much so," Klaus replied with a smile.
Rebekah rolled her eyes and turned to the door. "Well, I guess I'll go fetch the rubbish bin because she's staining a two-hundred-year-old carpet."
"Oh yes," Elijah commented.
"You okay?" I asked Kol who looked exhausted.
"What? Yeah, fine." Kol then stood up grabbing the blanket and Nate's bunny. "Well, we'll see you all in two days," Kol said once we were in the hallway there and he picked up our bags.
"Where the bloody hell do you two think you're going?" Rebekah asked coming back.
"Danny and Kyle have parent conferences we have to attend," I told her. "Or did you forget they still existed?"
"What about the two still in our basement?" Rebekah asked.
"Oh, they're now both in the car," Kol said. "Don't worry we'll deal with them get whatever information they have and be back to help you finish up the loose ends."
I saw Hayley as she walked over. "Please don't leave me."
"It's only two days, Hal," I said hugging her sideways.
