I was standing outside of school waiting for Makai to pick me up. Kayla had already left with Trigga. I wasn’t supportive at first but after finding out he’s Makai’s brother I didn’t mind. And I also got to know him better so I really didn’t mind if they got together, they would be really cute.
I was just about to call Kai and ask him weh him deh suh long when me feel smaddy a walk up behind me. I have been really paranoid since weh day cause my dad was constantly reminding me fi watch me head back, so I didn’t give the person the chance to ketch me off guard, I turned around to face them.
Oh, a just wasteman Micheal.
“I missed you so much, Why yah avoid me?” he asked, coming to hug me and me step back.
“Me and yuh deh?” I asked.
Him skin up him face. The fucka ugly, doh know weh me did see inna him. Him wull on pon me hand tight and pulled me into him.
Him wah dead?
“Stop gwan suh Prom, them gyal deh nuh mean nothing to me, you me wah wife.” he said.
“Me a beg you leggo me before me and yuh affi fight out yah suh, cause afta you sing day in and day out say a me alone the truth finally slip today.” I said harshly, pulling his hand off mine.
“Promise doh make me and you have nothing.”
Ku yah. Him brite ee.Me did ready fi done the likkle dutty boy when Makai car pulled up beside we.
“Wah gwan yah suh?” Shotta came out asking.
“Nothing, we good man.” I said going to the back when Shotta insisted I went in the front.
“Make sure eno.” he said as I sat down.
I saw Makai hand immediately go to his gun as Shotta talked to Micheal, the conversation look like it was getting heated.
“Easy.” I said, “None a that. Him good man.”
Yuh cyah waste bullet pon Micheal, just geh him a long rope mek him heng him bloodcaat self.
Him nod but still neva tek him hand off a him gun, “Any card can play Promise.”
I sighed. Shotta came back in the car sitting around the back.
“Me neva know it was a fucking idiot yuh use to deh wid.” Him seh.
Know seh me cyah like da man yah.
I laughed.
“A yuh ex?” Makai ask.
“Yeah.”
He huffed and Shotta let out one dutty laugh. A who geh him joke?
“A wah?” I asked.
“Nothing.” Makai answered, gripping the wheel tight.
“Wowww, me mada!” I heard Shotta laugh. A wah do this fucking eediat man.
After a while the tension in the car faded and Shotta start fi mek conversation, cause him love chat.
“Me mada over deh?” he asked me.
“Yeah.” I answered. She come back good while now, but we were not on good terms, me not even did wah go home go see har face.
“You and har gov?”
“No eno.” I laughed, Shotta knew how much we argued.
“Yuh nuh wah go over deh?”
“Not really.” I answered.
“Why you nuh go ova Peppa then.”Me look back pon him, weh him a try do? Them have something plan and a hide from me?
I looked at Makai who had taken his eyes off the road to look at me, he had a small smile on his face, the same one he use to give me when we were kids. That alone mek me give in.
He’s too cute for his own good.
“That good wid you?” me ask and he nodded.
“Alright then.” I said.
“Let me off ova Land, Bulla did a say me fi circle the block today eno bossy.” Shotta said to Peppa.
“Ah, gwan go check it out and make me know if everything good.”
Afta a while Makai let off Shotta a Drewsland. I figured a deh suh them a run now from the way them a talk but me neva ask.
Makai and I were silent the whole ride. I didn’t say anything till I saw him drive up to a big house inna one scheme.
“This is really nice. You alone live yah suh?” I asked. He nodded in response.
He opened the door for me and I saw that the house was even better pon the inside than the outside. He brought clothes for me to bathe and change into.
When I got out the shower I saw him laying on his bed, scrolling on his phone.
I went and sat beside him.
“Fergi?” he asked.
“Mhmm.”
“Why yuh did deh wid da youth deh?”
I laughed, “I don’t know. I liked him at the time, me neva know any betta.”
He pulled me into his lap, “I don’t like him.” Lord Jesus deliver me.
“Makai yuh nuh like nuh body.”
“I like you.” he said, playing with my hair and looking into my eyes.
Fada God, give me strength.
My stomach started to do flips. “Of course yuh mus like me, look from when we a fren.”
He laughed, “Not like that Promise.” he said, caressing my cheek.
Before I could reply he pulled me into a kiss. I deepened the kiss even though everything inna me did a say pull weh. His hand found my ass and he rubbed it gently causing me to get wet.
God, every day you give me a trial, tired fi tell yuh me is not one of yuh strongest soldiers.
I bit his bottom lip and he moaned into my mouth. I put my hands under his shirt rubbing his chest and he flipped us over so he was on top.
Yeah, I definitely missed him.
He pulled away, “Yuh get betta,” he said referring to the times we kissed when we did likkle.
I laugh, “Kai we did likkle and look how long that, me nuh muss learn from then.”
He grabbed my neck pushing me further down into the bed, “What else can you do?” he asked, giving me a look that made me weak in my knees.
Jesus, me a beg yuh likkle deliverance.
“You really want to see?”
He nodded his head.
“Next time.” I said pushing his hand off me and running out the room. I could hear him laughing.
I walked down the stairs and sat on the big sofa him did have inna the living room. I really missed Makai, he wasn’t just a family friend that I grew up with, he was my first love. My only love. I was still upset that he was here all this time and we just a meet back. But naturally I forgave him, especially after da kiss deh.
Woii, me tightness.
And I still loved him. And me couldn’t hide it, nuh matter how me try, me just cyah hide it. I felt his presence behind me and I turned my head up to him.
“Wah food love?” he asked, coming down to kiss me on my cheek.
“Mhmm.”
He cooked for me and we sat on the couch and ate. After we done eat, he pulled me into his lap and we slipped into a deep sleep.
I could get used to this.
