                                                             Amerie's POV

My eyes began opening, I feel like I have just been hit by a truck.

Blinking, I try to gain my vision back to take in my surroundings.

Squinting my eyes, I look around only noticing this is not the hotel room. I make out a couple of plants near the window, it is now dark out.

Where am I?

I have never been here.

My heart starts pounding fast, I can hear it, my ears are ringing.

I frantically grip onto the sheets of the bed I was in and a throw the blankets off myself.

"Ryan?" I barely whisper out, my voice hoarse.

I didn't even realize my mouth was so dry. I look around the room for water, but there was none.

I cover my ears with my hands and groan out. Wow, my head is killing me.

Slowly getting myself out of the bed, I see a door in the far corner of the room. Walking over to the doorknob and turning it, stumbling through the doorway.

"Ryan?" I try to get out, but again, it does not come out.

Observing my surroundings, I see light seeping through the cracks of the doors along the hallway. Running my fingers along the walls, trying not to lose my footing while I try to make my way down the hall.

A living room comes into my viewpoint, it is empty.

Where is he?

Turning around the corner of the living room, I see the kitchen counter tops.

Wincing in pain, I make my way to the sink.

I turn on the faucet and dip my head down to taste the water flowing out.

Drinking from the faucet like I haven't had water in days.

"Mm. Fuck, my throat feels so much better." I sigh out in relief as the soreness leaves my throat.

"Amerie..." Someone behind me whispers out.

Looking over my shoulder I see Tyler. He swiftly makes his way over to me, leaving no space between us. His arms wrap around my lower back and his head falls into my neck, leaning into me while he holds me tight.

"I am so sorry. I was scared something was going to happen to you. I just want you safe..." He whispers into my neck, his lips grazing down my shoulder as he kisses me softly.

Leaning into his embrace, my arms wrap around his neck, and I stand on my tiptoes to be closer to him.

"It is okay Tyler. I am fine, a little groggy but I am fine." I whisper softly into his ear.

His head just nods against me.

I feel his body shift, his face leaves my neck, and he slowly kneels in-front of me. My arms drop to my sides, and I look down at him.

"Tyler, what are you—"

"Amerie, I promise from this day forward, I will never let you be in harms way. I will always protect you." He looks up at me with sad eyes, his head falling into my stomach. His hand reaches for mine, pulling it up to his lips and kissing it.

Running my hands along his shoulders in reassurance, my fingers fumble in his hair.

"Tyler... That is a big promise. I do not want you to make a promise you cannot keep." I sigh out and lift his head up, so he is looking at me.

He pouts and shakes his head at me.

"If I can keep your mother safe, I can keep you safe too. You are my top priority."

My eyes open wide, and I step back from him quickly, my back hitting the counter.

"My mother?!"

Tyler notices my shock and instantly tries to get up and step towards me. My hands instantly flying up and blocking his way.

"I- I- I should not have said that. I just want you to trust me. I should not have been the one to mention it."

"I just wanted you to know you can trust me... I must go." Tyler realizes the anger has washed over me and quickly runs down the hall.

"Tyler!" I scream out as I start to run after him.

I catch a glimpse of him entering a room.

"What the fuck do you mean, my mother?! You cannot just say something like that and run!" I stomp my feet as I push open the door of the room he entered.

"I fucked up guys. I let it slip. I know you wanted to tell her slowly Cathy, I fucked up!" Tyler is frantically apologizing and pacing in the room.

"So, you leave her out there alone?! You idiot!" I hear Ryan yell out, a thump followed.

When I push through the door angrily, I look over and see Tyler rubbing his head. Ryan is pacing back forth, mumbling something I cannot hear.

I stand in the doorway and scan the room over. Everyone turns to look at me and they all freeze. Minus one lady standing with her back to me, humming a song as she flips through papers on a desk.

I see her long hair bounce with her head as she dances to her humming. She is wearing a black knit sweater and a pair of jeans, a pearl bracelet dangling on her wrist.

She turns around and our eyes lock.

"Amerie, My sweet baby." She breathes out, sighing with relief in her tone.

My body trembles and I can hear my heart beat faster.
My knees soon give out under me and I fall to the ground. Darkness once again consuming me.
