The main doors of the shuttle closed. The last bits of fresh air escaping with a high pitched squeak. Yoda took his seat near the front of the cabin. Huyang returned to the charging dock behind his work station until he was called upon. With what sounded like a slam to the main piloting console the ship began to rise from the hangar platform before zooming out of the bay doors and towards the rising sun of Coruscant.
Before long, the shuttle that had been dubbed 'The Learner' was ready to make the jump to Hyperspace. Final systems checks were being run by the pilots.
"We are now exiting Republic space." one of the pilots announced over the comms system and with a WOOSH they were on their way. "Destination set to Dantooine. Estimated time of arrival just under 2 hours. We'll set a new Hyperspace route after that. See you when we touch down." The light of the overhead com-link bleeped off.
The caves of Ilum were old, and especially sacred. Every Jedi there ever was made the journey to find their very own Kyber Crystal. The planet was a frozen hellscape filled with a labyrinth of icy caves. The crystals the Jedi used in their Lightsabers were extremely rare and valuable. An absolute fortune on the black market. The Jedi had kept the location of their sacred space a secret by continuously changing the route to and from the icy world. Different hyperspace routes meant no way for...unfriendly folk to follow.Master Toon sat down across from Yoda.
"I can sense your anxieties, young one."
'Young one'; a nickname Yoda wasn't very fond of considering he was already older than nearly all the Jedi masters who referred to him in that way. Though he played along because he knew age was not equal to wisdom. "Perhaps a game to clear your mind." The human woman tapped a big green button on the side of the table and lights flickered. Yoda was so riddled with anxiety that he wasn't even aware he had sat down at the only holo-chess table on board."Calm my mind, you think this will?" Yoda asked, somewhat confused.
Master Toon smiled and took a deep breath.
"Have you played before?" she asked.
Yoda nodded. He had been taught by his own master many years ago. Though he didn't claim to be an expert as his old friend had sadly become one with the Force before Yoda could master the game."I will start." Toon said, trying to ease the padawan's tension.
"If I may inquire, padawan; exactly how old are you?" She asked him.
The green, little boy shrugged his shoulders.
Due to the mystery of Yoda's species and the already long life he's lived, no one truly knew just how old he was. Not even him.
"My best guess? Over a hundred human years." This made Master Toon smile even more.
"Age is but a number. Irrelevant to a Jedi's training." She moved her first piece.
"The true test of one's soul, is their connection to the force around them."Yoda moved his piece with confidence. Confidence that quickly left his body as soon as he felt a big -
SLAM! SCREECH!
With a strong jolt, the ship came to a screeching halt. Yoda's game had been cut short.
"Captain report! What's going on?" Master Toon yelled over the com.
No answer.
She tried again. Nothing."Stay here." She ordered Yoda as she switched off the holo-table and shuffled to her feet.
By this time Huyang had sensed trouble and had already come back online.
Master Toon made her way to the cockpit. She pressed the button that was meant to open the cockpit doors. No results. She continued to try to reach the captain through comms. Still radio silent.
