< A few weeks later >

"Hey Ponk....? Can I ask you something...?"

"Yeah, go ahead. You can ask me anything."

"How did we... go back to how it used to be...? We've been apart for so long... yet you just welcome me back with open arms... how...? Why...?"

"Sam... I chose to forgive you because I love you... Foolish encouraged me to make my own choice, to not let anyone sway me... I chose to forgive you and let you back into my life... because I care deeply about you..."

"But-... nevermind. Just forget I asked."

"No. I'm not going to forget you asked... what's on your mind?"

"I can't tell you... I don't want to ruin what relationship we may have left..."

"Sam, I understand some things you're going through... you can tell me anything, I won't be mad..."

"Fine... Why are you still with Foolish if you care about me so much? What's stopping you from divorcing him- or cheating on him - with me??? What's stopping you from doing all of these terrible things to be with me? Why am I always the odd man out, the one left out to dry, the one who is always casted aside in favor of a more pleasurable partner... How can you say you love me, yet still be with another man and not even attempt to include me? How can you say you love me when we haven't properly faced the fact of what happened when I disappeared...? How can you even say you love me?"

"... Sam..." *inhale* "I can say I love you... because you are such a wonderful man, loving and caring... everything I could ever want... yet I also love Foolish, I couldn't just abandon him... I love you both... the same..."

"I... Understand... goodbye, Ponk..."

"Sam...? Sam, wai-"

> That was the last time Ponk had heard from Sam. The smaller male considered it the jealousy that had grown within Sam, making him partially lash out or act as if the smaller male was his property to an extent. Sam was never heard from again, neither Ponk nor Foolish heard any whispering of Sam's whereabouts or welfare, though both were concerned. They settled on the thought that Sam was off somewhere, pursuing a better life than what he had had there, but, of course, they would never know. The couple went on to pursue their dreams of starting a safe haven for stray felines, eventually both retiring and settling down on a small farm that grew lemons, apples, and a few other fruits and vegetables.

Sam had gone on to become the warden of a maximum security prison, which held some of the most dangerous inmates in the world. Twenty four years later, he was murdered by an inmate with a makeshift pickaxe - shank. Ponk and Foolish never heard of this. There is now a memorial commemorating the warden in the middle of a small town not too incredibly far from the prison (yet far enough away to be considered safe). <

I'm so sorry this is how it ended. I forgot the original ending I had in mind when I had to write a oneshot for someone, but I'm not upset over it. This was a one off story that was for fun. Thank you guys for all of your support and for reading my works!
