Chapter 13 – The Warlock's Azalea
-
Did Vise avoid... possibly hurting her?
Did he... not want to hurt them? But...
Why?
Why would he side with the queen, then? And that memory of when Azi first learned of their allegiance, and how Vise mentioned killing Azi...
"You're unbelievable, Aziel." Keira quickly flew to the other side of the Ring, where the queen's voice echoed.
There's no time to think about Vise's strange behavior. If someone hurts Azi..!
"Azi-"
"You've worked so hard for Staile, did you not?"
Keira stopped meters away from the small barrier where Azi was. Queen Cal was at the edge of the Ring in front of them, with soldiers' shields surrounding her.
Azi didn't answer.
"And you're throwing it all away. For what?"
"..For what I really want." Azi... "For the person I'm choosing over this world that threw me away—that threw all of us away." The queen scoffed.
"Indeed... There is no greater irresponsibility than a selfish act that destroys all you've ever worked hard for," She raised both her arms, bright green shimmers of light emerging from them, "all for someone meant to be dead."
"None of us," Azi took a step forward, electricity flowing through the transparent barrier. "deserved to die for a single warlock's mistake."
"Wake up, Aziel. You're being selfish-"
"And what's wrong with that? What's wrong with following my happiness? What's wrong with finally fighting for what's going to make me happy?"
"This isn't going to make you happy forever!"
"You betrayed me! Every single one of you, despite all my efforts in improving Staile!" Azi yelled! "All the years I spent pouring everything into bettering this world—and what did I get in return?"
"Aziel!"
"Your hatred with unknown roots! This world's desire to wipe us all off and take away our peaceful lives!"
"You don't know every side of this dimension, Aziel."
"Maybe I don't. Perhaps I don't need to know." He gritted his teeth and allowed his tears to fall. "Perhaps I don't want to know."
Keira's hands traveled up to her chest as the two prepared to take on the offensive, despite both being more supportive based on their abilities.
The queen sighed. "In due time...."
"..Please, cut your nonsense." Azi's voice cracked, "And just leave me alone. Leave us alone. Forever."
"My apologies, but I cannot do that. Not when you possess the stone and have it embedded on a corpse."
"She's not a corpse!"
Faster than sound and as quick as the light, all the sparks surrounding Azi stormed to where the queen was, and with that action, the entire Ring followed his command and struck lightning on everyone but Keira that entered.
"You've gone insane!"
"Maybe I have. Maybe that's why I insist on keeping her alive—for my own sanity. Because I would've gone insane if she had died."
Keira's heart was beating so much, giving this strange, irresistible urge to bathe herself in such a warm feeling.
"You've got to be kidding," Cloraserea yelled.
