It had been two days already.

Naruto had perfected Rasengan, but of course, no one knew about it.

The more hidden Jutsus he had in his arsenal, the more he could survive.

Genins were at the bottom of the food chain; getting captured or killed easily by the stronger ones.

He had to become stronger.

Naruto was walking down the streets with dirty looks of hatred accompanying him from those stupid villagers.

What would it cost them to leave him alone? It would save them a lot of effort too.

God, why didn't he use his transformation jutsu?

Reaching training ground 7, he had this feeling of being followed again. He had been feeling this for quite a while now, a strong chakra indeed.

Presumably, Anbu put after him to keep a watch.

But his Jiji trusts him enough. Then who?

He saw Sasuke, Sakura, and even Kakashi; he wasn't surprised, he came two hours late on purpose.

"You are late Naruto! Even Kakashi sensei came earlier than you!" Sakura exclaimed. After the bell test, she tried hard to keep herself from unnecessarily shouting at Naruto.

"Eheh, I fell in the water and had to get changed, sorry."

...

'That was even worse than the excuses Kakashi sensei uses,' Sakura sweatdropped.

"Anyway" Kakashi chimed in, "Let's go to the Hokage-sama for missions needed to be completed today."

Going through the village, Kakashi, Sakura, and Sasuke couldn't help but notice the stares they got from the villagers. Kakashi was familiar with that.

They were now present in the office.

"Can you please equip an advocate task for our team? The missions are very perforate for shinobis, I artlessly anticipate more, Hokage-sama," Naruto.

Naruto could snicker at the looks on everyone's faces right now. He had expanded his vocabulary, by reading almost thousands of books.

Not that he was counting (he was), but he had issued 1548 books out of the library by now. Of course, the librarian didn't know he was.

Transformation just really comes in handy sometimes.

His mother would be proud of him right now. He smiled at the thought.

"Brat". Kurama commented from inside his head.

"N-naruto, are you fine?" asked Iruka, the chunin task assigner.

Naruto couldn't hold back now, he just burst out laughing as Sasuke grunted and Sakura rolled her eyes.

"Naruto! Don't show off just because you know some words. Show some respect to Hokage-sama." Sakura said.

"But Naruto," Hiruzen said, "No genin team will be assigned a higher rank mission just yet. You have to wait three more months before actually getting a C-rank mission."

"Please Jiji, that is one thing I ask you, just this once, I have never asked you for anything! PLeeeeeeaseee." Naruto pleaded.

Hiruzen couldn't help but agree. Naruto had never asked anything out of the way from him; just this once. It won't hurt, right?

"Fine, there is a C-rank mission we just received.

"You will be stuck doing D-rank missions for the successive five months if you fail this. It is a very important mission to start the trade-in Nami no Kuni." Hiruzen commented.

"Please let the bridge builder in."

A drunkard came into the room holding a bottle of sake; most probably drunk.

"HUH?! These brats will protect me? They look like they can't even protect themselves!" The bridge builder commented; waving his bottle around.

"This is Tazuna: the bridge builder. He is building a bridge to start up the trade in the Land of Waves again." Hiruzen said.

"Tazuna-san. Looks can be deceiving, couldn't they?" Naruto asked him.

"W-well yes, but you don't look so strong!" Tazuna said.

"My point still stands," Naruto said.

"Whatever! I want you all to protect me with your life! There is some reason I will be paying you," Tazuna said.

Naruto could sense the wave of anxiousness in his aura.

'That would mean he is lying. What would the reasons for lying be? Is he out to kill us? Why would he kill us? No, that can't be. Oh, he must be lying about the rank of the mission. Oh well, could be,' Naruto figured.

"Meet me at the village gate, all three of you. Hokage sama is taking a big risk by sending us on this mission. We do not need to disappoint him." Kakashi called before shunshining to where no one knows. But Naruto could sense him in the graveyard.

"Let's go," he said. Sakura nodded and Sasuke just stood, waiting for Hokage to permit them.

"Arigatou Jiji," Naruto smiled; looking adorable, by the way.

'At least I can do this much for you,' Hiruzen thought before he smiled back.

"All the best," Iruka smiled, standing beside the Hokage.

"Thank you!" Sakura and Naruto bowed and Sasuke nodded.
