"I'm nervous." Probably I said it more than 10 times to Luna. I'm just waiting for Luna to finish her bath. I made the explanation yesterday in my head but now I can't remember anything. I knew her parents will be disappointed or even mad. No one in our family knew that we dated before except Nash. He is the one helping me make plans to sabotage Luna's blind dates and he saw us before when we are in high school. He just confirmed when we are already on good terms. He promised me that he will not tell anybody our secret even Cami. Cami and our parents will probably be upset as well. We made our relationship secret the fact that we don't want our family to be affected if we have broken up and before we got together we promised each other that if we didn't work out, we will remain friends but well it didn't go as planned at the end of the day our family is more important.
"Babe, don't worry our family will understand." She is looking at me through the mirror. She was sitting on the floor while doing her skincare while I'm in the bed observing her. We went to the mall to pick up some items for her to use. She got so excited to buy products she are currently using to leave behind the condo. I'm finally happy to be able to see her genuine smile and laugh and she is mine. I love her so much. "What if your parents don't accept our relationship?" I'm so worried because I knew her parents all my life but we went behind their backs. "Come here." I sat beside her and she just hugged me and whisper in my ears that 'it will be okay and we will do anything to gain our parents trust and approval' I believe her and I believe in our relationship.
We just headed to the grocery to buy our moms' favorite lasagna, our dads' favorite steak and our siblings' favorite fried chicken basically a bribe if you think so. I just parked my car in our garage and asked our maid where my family whereabouts and she told us that they are in Luna's house. We went through the back door because we also have a connected backyard. My hands are basically sweaty due to nervousness while Luna is just smiling. She just kissed me in the lips and just said that she loves me before holding my hand and led me to their back door kitchen. We heard some talking, laughing and some whispering. Luna was just to open the door when I stop her and suddenly kiss her just a peck but signifies that I love her. We just gave each other a smile before entering the kitchen.
The whispering and laughing comes from Luna's household helpers who are watching some korean series in the television. "Ate, kumain na po ba sila mommy?" "Hindi pa Luna, sabi rin ng mommy niyo wag na raw po kami magluto." "Buti nalang po Ate, pakilagay naman po yung mga pagkain sa lalagyan at pakipasok sa dining room. Inorderan po namin kayo nung favorite pancit at sandwich sa inyo po lahat." "Aba, thank you Luna at Calvin. Sabi na po may something sa inyong dalawa eh. Bagay na bagay po kayong dalawa." We thanked and laughed because they made hearts in their hands. We just gave them to food to prepare and left. Our family are probably sensing that we are the ones entered in the back door because when are almost at the door of the dining, all of them are looking at us consists of Luna's family with her grandparents and my family.
"Hurry up, sit and better explain now." It was Luna's mom. All of them are poker face but I can see her brothers are smiling. We just nod and sat down to the last 2 available seats in the dining which are near to Luna's parents. The sitting arrangement is Luna's parents, Luna's grandparents, Luna's brothers, Nash, Cami and my parents. "So ummm...." I don't where will I start they are basically staring. Luna is sensing my nervousness so she just squeezed my hand which is in the table and just held it. "Ahem." Now it was my mom.
Calvin: Luna and I are in a relationship.
Cami: Why didn't you tell us? (I think she is the one most affected because we didn't tell her the truth.)
Calvin: We just got back together.
Our moms and Cami: What?
Mom: I knew there was something between you too but didn't expect that you are already in a relationship. How many years?
Luna: 5 years po
Our moms and Cami: What?
Luna's grandma: Now, I understand why all the blind dates of Luna didn't worked out because someone is blocking my plan.
Calvin: Maria, I can explain.
Luna's grandma: Shush Hijo. I'm just happy that my granddaughter is happy and glowing because of you. I just need to call your grandma that our plan worked.
All of us: What? (Maria is just giggling and told Marco - Luna's grandfather that they need to go home because she is tired. They just bid goodbye and just left which made all us speechless.)
Calvin's mom: I'll ask mom regarding the so-called plan with Maria.
Calvin's dad: Why didn't you tell us?
Calvin: We are not yet sure if our relationship will work out and everything in our family will be
awkward or our relationship with the family might fall out as well.
Luna: We are truly sorry for not telling you. Personally, I'm kinda glad that we didn't tell you guys
because all of us will be affected and no sides are gonna happen.
Cami: Is he the guy who hurt you before?
Luna: Yes.
Luna's dad: What? (He was ready to lunge at Calvin but thankfully Luna's mom grabbed his hand.)
Luna: Dad please.
Calvin: Tito, I can explain. (All of the adults are kinda disappointed and probably hurt because we didn't tell them and Luna's parents are mad because I hurt their only daughter.)
Luna's dad: You hurt my daughter.
Calvin: Tito, I love Luna so much. I have no choice.
Luna's Mom: Hijo will talk later.
Luna's Dad: But Sweetie...
Luna's Mom: We will talk to them later.
Calvin: Tito and Tita, I'm really really sorry. (Luna's mom stood up and tapped both of our backs to signal that it would be okay.)
Luna's mom: Come on Ashley. Let's prepare the food.
Mom: Matt and Brandon can you please get the beer and wine. Nash and Calvin please get the muffins,
cookies and some ice.
Luna's mom: Kids prepare the table. Let's eat in the garden. Cami and Luna come with us.
Probably it is time to explain to Luna's dad what happened and tell him how much I'm in love with her daughter. I just smiled at Luna and kissed her forehead before following our parents. I need to talk to Cami later and explain.
