Warning for those sensitive: This chapter has scenes of abuse in it!
While Spencer was resting, Mark went into his office sitting in his chair. He knew Spencer wouldn't be in bed for the night. It was way to early but he wanted to get back to his investigation. Recently, his private investigator had found his daughter, Allison whom he knew from the report had been living with his father, Merle. The memories from those days were hard and dark for the most part. The only thing that had made anything worth living had been his Estefany or Essie as he called her. Back in those days, his father had actually been able to take foster kids and it brought in extra money. He was really good at faking out the social workers with his charm and lies and that was how she had come into his life when he was 15 years old. She was Allison's and Spencers mother. His mind went back to those dark days for a moment. The screen door to the trailer screeched and closed with a light bang. "Where ya been girl?" His fathers said in his southern hillbilly accent.
Essie glared at his father. "I was out."
His brother, Scott was hiding behind Marks chair and Mark sat stiffly giving the girl a glare. Stupid girl. It wasn't smart to get Dad all riled up and it was almost as if she was daring him to hit her.
"Screw you, Merle! I can do what I want!" She yelled staring defiantly at Merle.
Merle punched her right in the face making Mark flinch and stand up. "Dad leave her alone!"
His dad hit him next and then went back to the girl with his belt. He started to beat her with it relentlessly. Mark got up trying to pull him off of her and ended up getting thrashed with the belt as well.
Scott was screaming and crying still behind the chair until Dad got a hold of him as well thrashing him. Then he grabbed the keys to his truck and drove off to a bar, Mark guessed. He crawled over to his brother who was sobbing, first. "You okay, kid?"
"No, I hate him!" Scott yelled and ran into the bedroom he shared with Mark slamming the door.
Mark looked over at his foster sister who just got up and went to the bathroom with the slamming of that door making him flinch. In a few minutes, he could hear water running. He clenched his fist feeling angry as well and wanted to punch a hole in the wall. Instead, he went to the bathroom pushing the door open with a bang.
Estefany who was naked, gasped and turned around trying to cover herself. "Get out!"
He closed the door behind him staring at her. "This is all your fault, you know!"
"No its your pig father who does the hitting!" She yelled with a tear slipping down her cheek which she wiped away.
Now Mark was staring at her, seeing just how lovely she was, curvy in all the right places. He was also angry at himself for being attracted to her. She was supposed to be his foster sister and he was supposed to protect her but he couldn't. Taking off his clothing, moving closer to her and she didn't stop him. Pushing her hands against the shower wall and kissing her hard, he took her almost forcefully and she didn't resist. In fact she seemed to want it which made him move even faster inside her until they were holding each other and crying together. Then Mark quietly left and went to his room.
Marks face felt flushed from the memory staring at the file and coming back to his senses. Suddenly, he realized it looked as if some stuff on his desk had been moved around. Had Ace been in here? If he had, then he had seen all this and he couldn't accuse him of trespassing where he didn't belong because establishing trust with a kid like Ace was difficult. He knew that from his own experience. At one time he had been Ace or a lot like him.
