LETTING HIS BOYFRIEND cook always ends up into something pleasantly disastrous, not that the taste is bad or whatever, but the fact that [M.Name] just uses whatever ingredient he finds in their refrigerator then mixes them up together like some type of cauldron experiment done by a witch. Yoojin is well aware that his boyfriend can't cook to some degree, but it still catches him off guard whenever he'd eat something the younger made, simply because it tastes good but it doesn't look that appealing.
He vividly remembers eating something that contains an egg, spinach, butter, flour, soy sauce, cheese, and mayonnaise. His boyfriend hadn't named his spectacular experiment yet but Yoojin calls it the Spinach Surprise, he thought it would taste the most vile thing — no offence to his boyfriend, he loves him very much but he doesn't want to get food poisoning — but instead, it was a lovely combination of savoury and bitterness.
Every now and then, he'd request the boy to make it again, and soon enough it became his comfort food. Not a lot of people have seen it and he plans on keeping it that way, if they were to see any concoction made by his dearest boyfriend, they might try to burn him on a stake and accuse him of being a witch.
"Yoojinie, try this!" [M.Name] yelled from the kitchen, the said male felt himself become nervous. He hadn't seen what his boyfriend put on the food this time, and the smell was astoundingly sour.
Once he came downstairs, the sour smell increased tenfold, he had to pull out a handkerchief and cover his nose with it, usually he doesn't bother to do anything unless it smelled of rotten eggs. But this time — this time it felt as if the smell itself was burning through his nasal cavity, leaving gashes along the way.
Was this worth it? Yoojin had thought. He loves his boyfriend but this could possibly land him a bed in an hospital, but then again — he never made something purposely bad. Maybe he'll give this a chance. Maybe.
The moment he was finally inside the source of his headache, he felt a hand grab ahold of his wrist and pull him near the stove, the cloth was proven weak since he could still smell the acidic aroma — if he could call it that.
It was clearer than anything that Yoojin was hesitating, the cloth had left his nose but his frown was still evident, [M.Name] remained oblivious to his internal struggle and held a spoon to his face, a bright grin on his lips. Well, guess he'll just have to pray to every God out there that his stomach doesn't shrivel up on him after this.
Yoojin finally ate the beef on the spoon, already reciting a prayer in his mind the moment it touched his tongue. But to his disbelief — as always — it tasted wonderful! The meat is perfectly tender and was absolutely savory with a little sour tinge to it! Now he felt quite guilty for doubting his boyfriend's nonexistent culinary skills, it was definitely not the best but he'd probably never intend to give him salmonella or anything.
"Do you like it?" [M.Name] asked beside him, his long eyelashes batting towards Yoojin as if it was a way to persuade him into thinking that he really did. Well, lucky for him since he'll never admit it if he ever dislikes any of his cooking.
"It's wonderful, baby. You cooked it very well." Yoojin pecked the boy's cheek and offered him a smile, a way to encourage him to do more things like this. It was a way for him to express his creativity so who was he to deny it anyway.
"Can we invite Mandeok over? Maybe he'll like what I cook too!"
That was a very awful suggestion, in fact, it was so awful that Yoojin actually did it. He called the big guy personally and told him to come over to his and his boyfriend's secret shared home — only two people were allowed to know the location.
Now here he is now, Yoojin could tell that he was nervous by the way he was sitting, it seemed the acidic smell had gotten to him too since he has been scrunching his nose aggressively for the past few minutes of just being in the dining room.
"Tada!"
[M.Name] finally appeared out of the kitchen, a pot of his experiment in his hand as he wore a frilly pink apron and a proud smile. Yoojin made eye contact with Mandeok while his boyfriend was busy putting down the food, he shook his head as a way of saying not to complain or show disgust if it was ever not up to his expectations — what is Mandeok even expecting? It was made by [M.Name], it'll either be the most delicious thing or it would be his last meal on earth.
As scary as it can be, Yoojin took a cup filled with the soup along with Mandeok. Now they only wait if it ever gets them to land a spot in the emergency room.
"Thank you for the meal."Yoojin took it upon himself to escort the taller male out of the house, mostly because he wanted to know if it somehow made him want to rip his stomach out or just die. After his boyfriend waved goodbye to Mandeok and went back inside the kitchen to wash the dishes, Yoojin quickly pulled him out of the house and safe out of earshot.
"If you somehow get food poisoning from this, please contact me immediately." He told the other with much seriousness, Mandeok returned his expression but with an unexpected reply, "How did you stomach that?"
Well, the answer to that question is simple. Very simple.
"I love him too much and I don't want to discourage him doing the things he's passionate about."
