During the upper management meeting of Shengshi Entertainment, the manager of Strategy Department was delivering the summary on current quarter’s quarterly report.
“…. And that sums up our activities from the previous quarter. And now, let’s turn to the Powerpoint presentation.”
Yang Qiang was quite at ease being in front of the CEO and a few other c-suite individuals of the company. He was poised much like when he was presenting the current process a month ago.
“Our main focus this upcoming quarter was “Hot Moms & Caring Dads”. We are working both on recruiting guests for the show and advertising the show concurrently. As such, we are relying heavily on sales and marketing to work with us closely."
The managers of those two departments nodded.
The managers of those two departments nodded.
“From what I have heard, the last guest has yet to sign the contract?” Xiang Liuyue suddenly asked.
Xiang Liuyu was in charge of the Production Department and responsible for research and development of new shows, evaluations, as well as specific processes of production and delivering it for approval.
Yang Qiang was in charge of the Strategy Department and responsible for show-related activities, mainly with regards to variety shows and shows produced by their company internally.
They might seem unrelated, but both of them were the pillars of the company.
In short, Yang Qiang and Xiang Liuyue were always competing with each other.
Xiang Liuyue has never been a big fan of Yang Qiang.
The same could be said for Yang Qiang.
Hearing that, Yang Qiang said confidently, “Meng Yan might not have signed the contract just yet, but he had already cleared his schedule for the next three months.”
“But from what I have heard, he had divorced his ex-wife a while back and his ex-wife has the custody of their two children. As long as his ex-wife doesn’t sign off on it, this is all a big waste of everybody’s time.”
Xiang Liuyue was no stranger at putting her competition down.
This show would be one of the main focus of Channel 2, one of the most watched local channels, for the second half of the year. And Shengshi Entertainment has the lion share of it. They were expecting no less than $1.5 billion in return from their recruitment ads. If this show was successful, Yang Qiang would be able to walk on water thereon forward.
This was not a small project by any stretch of imagination. Most of the departments had already finalized and was about to move ahead with the exception of this little hiccup.
Many people started whispering to each other that they might have to re-evaluate about this show.
The quarterly meeting was attended by mostly c-suite personnel. Managers like them were but peons in these meetings.
As much as Yang Qiang was extremely disgruntled about Xiang Liuyue, he kept that to himself. Outwardly, he still put on his confident front and said, “That’s not a problem at all. Meng Yan had already confirmed with us verbally. We will be able to start production as soon as the contract is finalized.”
Right now what he needed most was to quell any doubts there may exist in this room. Otherwise it would impact him negatively once production began. He, too, was quite anxious to have everything nailed down.
At that moment in time, a man’s voice could be heard in the meeting room. “Manager Yang, I think you are confused about one point here.”
Everybody in the meeting looked over to the CEO.
Lu Xun, CEO of Shengshi Entertainment, had already flipped through the summary report sitting in front of him.
He looked at Yang Qiang and said slowly, “His ex-wife was the one you needed to convince, not Meng Yan.”
Yang Qiang was even more anxious upon hearing that, “Meng Yan’s manager had already reassured that his ex-wife won’t be an issue as long as Meng Yan brings it up to her.”
What this manager of the Production Department didn’t know was that, as much as he feigned his calmness, now that the CEO had already chimed in, any other excuses only made him look worse."
