Lin Yiyi felt much better after arriving at that conclusion, but her appetite had not improved.
She couldn’t tell if she felt relieved because he was not fond of her romantically or that she was disappointed that their relationship never moved beyond the friendship phase…
Regardless of which one it was, it was time for the two of them to maintain a healthy distance from each other.
Once she had her mind set, Lin Yiyi waited until Meng Yuran and Meng Shanshan went upstairs after dinner before she expressed that she wanted to walk him out.
Lu Xun had no idea what she wanted to talk about, but he recalled her obvious shyness when he put the apron on her and suddenly had a thought…
Was she interested in him?
He didn’t know why that made him happy but, once that idea popped into his head, he started getting nervous.
Should he accept or turn her down?
If he had accepted…
This pace was simply too fast!
He.. he wasn’t quite ready just yet!
And if he turned her down…
How could possibly hurt a fragile girl like that?
One way or another, he was a man. He should be mindful about not hurting others.
Oh, screw it. He could just suck it up. Worst case scenario…
Worst case scenario, she could always bend over backward a little more.
Honestly, not even that much more. All she needed to do was to cook him a couple of his favorite dishes everyday and that would be sufficient.
All sorts of ideas went through Lu Xun’s head…
Finally, the two had reached the door.
Lin Yiyi stopped in her way.
“I feel that…” Looking at the young man who was giving her an attentive and eager look, she finally finished saying what she had started, “You shouldn’t come over to my place anymore.”
Her words were, doubtless, a great shock to him.
Lu Xun’s mind went blank all of a sudden. His smile froze on his face.
As Lin Yiyi had already started going down that path, then whatever that followed was only reasonable. “It had never occurred to me before, but we are of the opposite genders. There will be rumors if you keep coming over to my place.”
“What sort of rumors?”
Lin Yiyi casted him a glance.
Finally, with feigned light-heartedness, she said to him. “Anyways, whatever dishes that you want, you can always get them at Number One. It isn’t that far from here. It’s centrally located and has a wide selection. All in all, there is no need for you to come over here again.”
Lu Xun looked at her. His smile disappeared slowly from his face.
She had already made it abundantly clear. Obviously, he was not welcomed here. And he had been inviting himself over to her place all the time.
Truth be told… Has she been feeling this way the whole entire time? She had been putting up with him for as long as she could and had finally decided to let him know?
“I get it.” Lu Xun nodded. He gave her a deep and meaningful look before he turned and left. He didn’t even say “goodbye”.
That look…
Why did she feel like she had just done something awful?
Lin Yiyi scratched her head.
But, the way that Lu Xun turned and left just looked so pitiful.
Was it the way that she had phrased it?
Ah well. Whatever!
She turned around and closed the door, then she saw Meng Yuran.
The boy looked at her coldly. His lips formed a thin, straight line.
He was looking at her like he was looking at a man who had just abandoned his wife and child…
Lin Yiyi: ???
