Chapter One: Home Sweet Home

☆ Harrington Resident's ☆
✿ Wednesday 4:33 p.m. ✿

"Rey..." Steve paused, "...welcome home you idiot." my older brother wrapped his arms around me and spun me around.

"Steveeee! Thank you." I laughed as I started to get dizzy, "Okay put me down, feels like I'm going to faint haha." Steve put me down and embraced me again.

"Someone really missed their sweet sister." our mom said coming inside with my bag,

I pulled away from Steve and gave him a 'forget it it's ok' look towards our mothers comment, then made my way upstairs to my room.

My parents took down a lot of my art, it was seen as too 'hippy' to our parents. Steve was the golden child, mom adored him, he was defiantly a mamas boy but always stood up for me when she was a bitch. Dad wasn't around much, he was a grade A asshole though, and boy do I look like him, that's probably what pisses mom off so bad. A perfect replica of her shitty husband, perfect punching bag? Right mom?

I love Steve, he's my perfect older brother, except I constantly live in his shadow. That's exactly what got me thrown into the mental institution, got busted with weed. Yea I went to a mental institution for WEED. My mom could've just grounded me or sent me to a camp, but she lied to everyone.

Knock knock

Nancy stood at my door frame, "Hey Harrington." she gave a weak smile.

"Hey stranger!" I jumped up and hugged her. It's been 2 long years since I've seen my friends, I'm excited to see Jonathan.

"I wanted to know how's the town been? How is Jonathan?" I questioned Nancy.

"He's good, we are doing great! We have a few new people you may not know about, Billy Hargrove and Max. Mike's friends with her, she's a tough girl, Billy is the talk of Hawkins as always." Nancy said looking exhausted.

"Billy Hargrove, why is he the talk of the town?" I asked her as the curiosity grew inside.

"You'll see Harrington, you'll see.." she smirked and grabbed my hand.

☆ Hawkins Mall ☆
✿ ✿ 5:45 p.m. ✿

"Where the hell are you taking her? She just got out Nancy! Do not get her in trouble! YOU HEAR ME WHEELER?" Steve yelled from the kitchen with a coke can in his left hand while his right was hitting the kitchen counter as he spoke.

Nancy and I giggled as we ran out the door and practically pounced into her car. The radio blasted as we came up on a new mall I had never seen before.

"Holy shit Nancy!" I shouted at her staring at the monstrosity of a building.

Nancy parked and I sprinted out the car and into the mall, she struggled to keep up with me eventually whining enough to keep my pace slow for her. We passed by so many stores, there was even a big room called a food court that had all kinds of food.
