Dear penpal I found on the internet,
I am unsure how this whole pen pal/writing letter thing works, so I apologize if I am shitty at it. Im not even sure why I am writing a letter when I am not proficient in texting. But I guess with pen and paper; I can really sit down and think about what I want to write without just aimlessly sending messages and not giving it a second thought. I might also be able to avoid typos and will only encounter spelling errors! (I'm a stem person, so writing isn't my strong suit) So let's see if this new medium grows on me.
As you can tell, I tend to blabber a lot. ( I apologize for any shitty jokes you may have to read. I will get better at them; no promises, though.) if you find that annoying, you may have to deal with it, or not, just don't send a letter back, ha!
Anywho, I tried googling what to write or how to start a good letter to send to a potential pen pal, but it wasn't working, so I am now winging it. You may have been wondering, "Hmm, who is this person who wrote me this letter?" Well, fear not! I am here to answer that! Let's start with the basics: Introductions!
My name is y/n; I am currently 20 years old female studying mathematics at my local university. Do I know what I want to do with my major? Um, no, but that's a future me problem!! If you ever need a math tutor (that's if you are in school and in a math class), I am the person you can call. I got a few basic hobbies: eating, sleeping, and going on my phone. I also enjoy listening to music; I am currently listening to some oldies. Also, I love watching tv! It's a fun distraction away from my responsibilities, if you know what I mean.
I also have a few questions for you and hope you feel comfortable enough to answer them.
Question 1: What's your name, age, and gender? For all I know, I could be writing to someone who can be twice my age. Not that it would be a bad thing if you're 40. I think it would help better guide the conversations if I knew the audience I was talking to.
Question 2: What are your hobbies? Have any dislikes?
Question 3: Do you have a favorite tv show/ anime, and if so, which one is it?
Question 4: Do you like cats?
Okay, those are all the questions I have for you. I do hope I hear from you soon!
Sincerely,
Your new letter friend - y/n
You are finishing writing the last sentence of your letter when a loud knock on your door startled you. "Y/n, are you done getting ready? We should've met up with the group already!" your roommate and best friend Shoko called out.
You sigh heavily as you quickly put the letter inside an empty envelope you had on your desk. You write the address where you were going to send the letter and stamp it with one of the cute flower stamps you got from the post office. You grab your tote bag and carefully place the note inside. You look at yourself in the mirror once more before exiting your room.
Shoko was sitting on the couch when she turned around, "Finally! You were stuck in your room forever!" she teased. You rolled your eyes as you reached out for your keys, "Whatever, Shoko. Also, do you mind if we stop at the post office? I need to drop something off," you ask.
"We are already running late, and you want us to be more late?"
You nod as Shoko sighs, "Fine, we can stop by the post office but make it quick!"
