Chapter 19

LYANNA
No one noticed us as we left, I knew something was wrong the second Khione who reappeared held her forehead. Liu was driving away while I stared out the window.

"A fucking centaur" She  muttered, turning into a street . "No more parties for us then "

My phone buzzed in my pocket and I extracted it, it was a text from Zoe
Hey, Lyanna, I hope you liked the party. Didn't see you when you left and I think Chris and April owe me explanations ;)

"Do you think Zoe would be part of this?" I ask Liu, who nibbled on her lower lip for a while.

"I doubt it, she doesn't look like it " She said "if it is a power show, she would've tried to get us herself."
 
"If you say so, I don't even trust anyone other than you girls" I said, returning my gaze to the road. "Where are we? "

"If April got attacked, we need to check on Theresa" She said, getting out of the car and breaking into a run for the door.

I slap myself mentally, I had barely given any thought to Ms. Watts. I ran too, going into the house. I scanned the living room and kitchen. Nothing extraordinary.

Liu was upstairs, yelling. I ran up and started throwing doors open. I stopped at the threshold of her bedroom door. Her room was trashed , the vases broken, her books in ruins. Definitely signs of a struggle.

Liu was kneeling at her bedside,clutching parts of her sheets in her hands.  There were deep cuts in the sheets and drops of blood everywhere.

My breath caught up in my throat.  "Chris was a distraction"

"She's not dead " I rest my hand on Liu's shoulder, who had begun to sob.

We clean up as much as we can, then leave, Locking the doors.

"So, I think I'll sleep at your place tonight, yunno, just in case" Liu said, her knuckles white against the dark steering wheel. She looked at me from the shadows of her hair.

"Yeah, we should get things from your house and come back to mine, " I say " and we should call Denise and April."

She nodded, leaning back into her seat and whipping out her phone .

"Hey, April, I don't want you to panic or anything, but is it possible that you could move in with Denise for a while? "
Silence
"Well, we decided to stop by Ms. Watts and it appears she was taken. Lyanna thinks that the episode with Chris was a distraction"

"Taken, as in kidnapped"

"Okay, okay. Tomorrow then. ". She dropped the phone and exhaled.

" Denise is moving in with April, cause they have Fireball"
I nodded " Good thinking"
She eased away from the curb into oncoming traffic. The entire trip silent.

DENISE

"What did she say?" I was throwing some clothes into a little box, April was putting shoes into another.

"Ms. Watts has been kidnapped " came the reply " what's Hades problem? "

"He's probably not even made a move yet," I muse "this is the work of one of his cohorts"

"What do they want with her?"

"Well, for starters. She has a bit of Athena's powers"

The sound of Zips closing filled the air, I had left a message for my mother and within the hour, we were in the relative safety of April's house, Fireball on guard dog mode.

I began to pace on the shag carpet while April got ready for bed. Poor Ms. Watts.
