There are so many things that make you realize summer officially has started. For some people it's the first sunburn of the summer and for others it's smelling like the saltiness of the beach. But for me it's the feeling of the sand from cousins beach under my feet. My older brother, my mother and I have spent every summer since I could remember at Cousins beach with my mother's friends kids.

Although I get out of school a week before we leave for cousins beach Susannah and Laurel constantly remind me that summer doesn't start until we're all together.

I first knew we arrived at the beach house when I heard Belly and Jeremiah being loud per usual. I slowly sat up from my nap in the back seat and rubbed my eyes only to be met with the hot summer sun beaming into them. When I stepped out of the car I could barely recognize them, each of them had grown at least a few inches and their faces were more mature, especially Belly's. I mean sure she was pretty last summer but she was absolutely breath taking now.

"Is that y/n?" She said while drawing me into a tight hug. Having only been the only girls at the summer house Belly and I had instantly become close and our friendship had only grown throughout the summers.

"Oh god I missed you so much, and just look at you, you've changed so much." I said while being suffocated by her arms. Her hair was still quite long and her glasses were no where to be found, but something else was different. I've always thought Isabel was gorgeous but this summer her beauty was insane.

"You're one to talk, I could barely recognize you when you pulled up." Belly retorted.

After a few minutes I was finally able to escape her tight hold and I began looking around knowing that I had heard Jeremiah's voice. The brother's voices were the one thing that I was sure I could connect to them, but when i looked around I couldn't find him.

"Guess who." I heard from behind me as someone put their hands over my eyes. Their hands were large and rough with a small scar leading across the palm.

I turned around and was quickly pulled into a hug and was spun around my one of my favorite people I see in the summer.

"Jeremiah!" I shrieked as he slowly put me back on the sandy grass. The blonde smiled down at me as I studied him like it was the first time I've ever seen him. He'd changed a lot since last summer, he was taller for sure, and his build was bigger so I knew that he was still doing football.  Like last summer he was tan and had a slight sunburn on his nose.

"Y/n...you look...so different," he stated "Sorry, no not like in a bad way. You just seem more grown up..." it was hard to believe Jeremiah when he sounded so unsure of himself.

I looked back up at him and gave him a confused look. "Nice to see you again too Jer."

On the staircase of the beach house we have pictures from our very first summer to our summer last year at cousins beach. I was right, both Jeremiah and Belly had changed but when I look at them I still see those little kids that I used to play on the beach with.

I think I was too focused on the pictures because I ended up running into the two people that I hadn't seen yet, Steven and Conrad. I began to stumble but before I could fully fall down the stairs Steven grabbed my wrist and pulled me back up.

"Well your definitely as clumsy as last summer, even thought you look...quite different." I unintentionally scrunched my eyebrows together.

"Why does everybody keep saying that?" I questioned still looking at Steven. By the end of last summer I had assumed that he was done growing but when I looked at him again I knew I was wrong. He was definitely taller and his face was for sure more developed.
