"I can't believe you dragged me along,"

Complaining, of course.

"We had to go, it's the only way to start off the summer." I said, to be fair I had dragged Conrad along, but it was only because everybody else was going. And he was not going to be an exception.

"C'mon Y/n's right it's tradition," Jeremiah agreed

"Even though it's completely boring?"Okay, so going to the beach and sitting there might be a little boring but it was better than just doing nothing.

"Shut up Steven you wouldn't be doing anything more interesting if you weren't here."Belly retorted

This tradition definitely made the top three. On the first night after dinner we would all walk to the beach and go to the biggest and tallest rock on the beach, cousins rock. The boys thought they were so genius for coming up with that years ago.

"Ah here it is. I'd like to formally present the one and only...cousins rock!" Jeremiah boomed, and at that moment everything finally felt right again. As we climbed up and made our way up the rock I wished that I could spend forever like this.

-——————————————————————————

We sat in silence and stared at the stars but it wasn't awkward silence it was comforting.

"I don't ever want any of this to change," I admitted. It sounded cheesy but summer has always meant so much to me because of them.

"C'mon Y/n we still have the rest of the summer to live this up," Jeremiah pointed out, yeah I mean I guess he was right but the thought of leaving summers like this behind wasn't something I could bare.

"Ugh please don't start getting all mushy right now, can we just like enjoy the moment or some shit." Steven complained.

"Yeah for real, you guys are acting like everything is ending." Conrad agreed. I guess they just didn't get it but that was because they didn't have to. They just had to be there.

"Alright it's been like 20 minutes I think we've been out here for long enough," Kent said getting up "let's start heading back."

Maybe it wasn't a huge tradition but it always reassured me that summer would always be ours.

-——————————————————————————

I was jet lagged without a doubt, I had been staring at the ceiling for at least 20 minutes before I decided I wanted to go out.

I snuck down the stairs almost slipping in the process, but eventually I made it to the door quietly enough.

"Y/n..." I jumped. "Stop sneaking out and go to bed".

Conrad, of course. It didn't matter whether I was 13 or 16 none of the boys ever let me forget they were older than me. And they were constantly treating me like a kid.

"I'm not five Conrad you can't tell me what to do." I shrugged. I don't care if they're all just looking out for me I wanna be able to do things that are fun whether I'm supposed to or not.

"Both of us know that you're not supposed to be going out this late so do yourself a favor and don't get in trouble in the first night." Conrad lectured, normally it wasn't Conrad lecturing me but he was kind of right. I really didn't want to get in trouble on the first night but I wasn't gonna admit it.

I rolled my eyes and he just smirked and walked away as I took my hand off the handle. Out of everyone I hated admitting he was right the most cause then he thinks he has the power and he was annoying about it.
