After her mate marked another and expected her to be the side chick, Dani vowed never to let a man fool her ever again. As her wolf faded away without her mate Dani was resigned to being a human among her kind. Until case of mistaken identity led he...

Eric made his way into the old library with his mind still on Daniella. She was the most intriguing person he'd ever met. Even with the knowledge that she was dying she was still feisty, challenging him at every turn. Unbroken.
She might be resigned to her death but he wasn't, he was going to save her. The library in dragonheim was the best the world had; it held ancient secrets that'd been forgotten by most races. Eric had no doubt something in here would save his mate. He smiled as he realised the desire wasn't just to save his own skin. He actually was falling for her.
"So what are we doing today? Same as always?" His friend Ryan asked as Eric came to the table where the two were already doing research.
"No, we have something else to do." Eric paused to look at both his friends. They were the two people he trusted above anyone else and he knew they'd help him no questions asked. "We need to find a way to save Daniella's life."
"What's wrong with her?" Cian asked with a worried frown. Both of them knew if Daniella died so would Eric.
Even though dragons chose their own mates their bonds tied souls together so that they died in the same instant as the other. With the strengths of the werewolf mate bond, it seemed to have made their bond even more volatile. At least to his dragonic senses. It didn't help that his unpredictable magic had also latched on to her.
Eric sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "Well, it turns out werewolves have their power and wolves tied to each other. Dani was an alpha through her mating and by tearing that bond away I basically tore her wolf from its power base.
"And that's killing her?"
"Pretty much." Eric agreed.
"Wait, I thought she didn't have her wolf anymore." Cian objected. Eric frowned at that. He had thought Dani was the hidden wolf because she didn't have a discernible one. Once again he wondered if the wolves were keeping something from him, possibly lying. "Do you think they're lying to you, trying to get back at you or something?"
"No," Ryan was adamant. He'd been listening to them with the contemplative expression he was known for on his face, analysing as always.
Eric looked askance at him. "Why do you say that?" he inquired. Ryan could be trusted to be rationally analytic despite how painful it might be, even to himself.
"Did you know that our internet access is limited?" he asked instead of replying, something that annoyed most people and Eric had resigned himself to. There was no hurrying answers from Ryan.
"What do you mean?" Cian asked in outrage. "Dragons invented the internet and we're the only race who use it."
Ryan gave their friend a sad smile. "That's what I thought until I came across the wolves talking to their families today." He turned to Eric. "Did you even check them for phones when you brought Dani and Cari here?"
