Dani

The last thing she wanted was to answer her grandmother's summons but after living with her for most of her life she knew better. Whatever Nana was planning the best thing would be to know about it from the beginning rather than be surprised. Not that her grandmother ever gave them the full story. The worst part was knowing that whatever she might do to stall Nana's machination most often turned out to be part of her grandmother's plans.

Dani easily found her way back to the library she and her cousin had stumbled upon just four days ago. Before it'd taken them a while to get to it but now it seemed to be just around the corner from her suite. Though still clearly deep in the mountain beneath the castle. She guessed it was because they were invited that the magic of the castle made it easy to find.

Was her recent decision to be with Eric the reason why Nana was here? Dani shuddered at the thought. The last thing she wanted was to have a discussion about sex with her grandmother, Cari had told her about the embarrassing moment with their mothers and Nana before Andre came to claim her. Dani wasn't having any of that, no way.

And why had she asked her to meet in this library anyway? Given how her grandmother apparently knew this place like the back of her hand she could've come to her suite. The last thing Dani wanted was more complications. She already had more than she could handle but again Nana wasn't someone she could ignore.

When she got to the library she found everyone there, even Eric and his two friends. As their eyes met she felt a jolt that she remembered from the first time she'd met Dean. That recognition of someone tied to you in an inexplicable way. It was a draw that urged her to go to him, one that had the almost gone spirit of her wolf stirring.

Her breath caught at the same time a wave of denial arose in her. It was one thing to decide on a physical relationship with him and another to allow him a deeper bond. He wasn't her mate, no matter what Nana thought and said. If the whole thing about the primes and the three sisters was true then how come Dean had been the other half of her soul? Shouldn't she have been made for the dragon prince, to begin with, if it were true?

With their gazes locked, as she stood caught in the fire in his eyes he came closer and took her arm. "Can I talk with you please?" he asked, though it came out more like a demand than anything.

Dani bristled at that but the last thing she wanted was to cause a scene so she allowed him to lead her away. They went back the way she'd just come in and she was jolted to see that instead of a hallway they found a door that led into his suite.

"Okay your castle is really creepy," she murmured.

"As I understand it your wolfehold is the same way," he stated in a dismissive offhand manner.

Dani barely knew the dragon prince but there was a note in his voice that had her looking at him with accessing eyes. Tension tightened the corners of his eyes, his lips echoing it as he stood with a stiffness that was beyond his normal regal bearing. If she didn't know better she'd have thought his eyes looked haunted as they searched her face as if to see if she were okay.
