Dani

Her legs unsteady, she leaned against the mirrored wall, allowing the water to blast her body. The shower stall was big enough to hold four and had multiple heads and she needed the high pressure from them jetting onto her body. She gasped, unable to get enough air. A shiver raced down her spine as she realised her life was spiralling unexpectedly.

Dani also realised she would never again look at a mirror the same way. Only there was no way to avoid them, especially here, where she supposed her grandmother ruled. Cari had told her about the month she and Andre had spent here, how no time had passed in the real world. She'd also told her that there were mirrors everywhere.

Was Nana going to keep her and Eric here for just as long? She didn't know how she felt about the idea of being here until they mated fully. Then again, they had started the process, and it didn't matter where it ended. Time might not move in the real world, but it would seem to do just that here, regardless.

There was always a chance that a mating couple would choose not to seal the mating with a second bite. Everyone knew it, but the reality was, it had never been done, and now she knew why. The pull to be with Eric, to claim him in all the ways there were, was maddening. Even now, after their sex marathon, she still craved him and it was getting worse.

It was no wonder mates were secluded for the marking and mating.

She had never had the same problem with Dean and wondered if it was because they had never marked each other or because of what her Nana had said. But how could that be? How could she have been destined for a dragon? Come to think of it, she didn't recall Cari and Andre having the same issues. Maybe it was the inter-species mating.

'We didn't have sex, we made love.' Eric's voice caressed through her mind.

She shivered in reaction to that sensual touch. Then, gritting her teeth against the pleasure of his voice, which was like an intimate caress, she tried to find the door to shut that mental path. How the heck was he able to do that? He was a dragon. He shouldn't be able to find the path so easily.

'You've been in there for too long,' he continued. 'If you don't come out soon, I will come to join you. Remember what happened the last time I did?

Dani swore under her breath and was sure she heard him laugh. Or maybe it was her imagination. Dragons didn't have that kind of hearing as far as she knew. Which begged the question. Aside from their physical invulnerability and potent magic, what other abilities did dragons have? And weren't those two enough?

Turning off the water, Dani took up a drying towel while fuming that Eric had put her in a position to lose either way. Towelling her hair, she left it loose to air dry and put on a new pair of jeans and a T-shirt. She didn't even want to think about the fact that they were her clothes that should be in her closet at home.

With great reluctance, she swiped her hand over the mirror at the sink. She raised her eyes to meet her own in the now clear mirror. Her teeth sank into her lower lip in consternation as she read the familiar brown orbs.

Was that really her?

The lost look she had always had if late was no longer there. Instead, excitement shone within their brown depths. Was she already lost to the idea that Eric was now her mate? Could she so easily forget the reality she now faced?

As she stared at her face she felt him come into the bathroom. There was a sense of power in his presence. A force that brushed against her in a possessive way ever since they had mated.

The only way to describe it was chaos. Which made sense since if she were to believe her Nana, that was what he was. Dani shivered as that dangerous power brushed her with a heartbreakingly beautiful, delicate touch.
