"Hey so look i'm sorry about my brother, he's very social" Matt said as he genuinely pushed you onto the inside of the sidewalk as he stayed on the sidewalk closer to the cars. "oh no need to apologize it's all good, i just felt bad I stopped listening halfway through" Genevieve said as she let out a small laugh in hopes to easy the awkwardness. "oh ya i noticed that, do you always fidget with yours rings?" he asked. Genevieve honestly never really noticed she did that "oh uh i didn't even know i do that i'm sorry" she said looking down. "no need to apologize i do the same thing it helps when i'm anxious, anyways why are we going in the opposite direction of your house?" he asked really confused. "Oh i don't know i just don't wanna go home yet" she said. He could sense something was off with that response but didn't wanna question her because he barely knew her. They just sat down on a patch of grass as they talked. Genevieve was sure that this was the most she has talked to someone without getting picked on. She had felt so comfortable with him which lead them to talk for hours. They talked about her childhood, his childhood, why she moved, his brothers, and even something she never thought she would tell anyone, to say the least he was shocked and felt horrible for the girl. As they finished talking the sun started rising.

"Oh shit i gotta get home, wait can u take me to get coffee please" Genevieve had said knowing that this isn't the first time she's had to say "i went on a morning walk to get coffee" to her mom. No questions asked matt had taken the girl to get starbucks. He texted his brothers a while ago to let them know he'd be staying out later and was planning to get them coffee in the morning either way. Once they got their coffee he drove them home, both feeling tired as ever.

Matt's Pov:
"ok i'll text u later, stay safe!" I said to the brown haired girl as she walked inside the house "oh for sure, lmk when u wanna hang out again, bye!" she responded. I got back home and I went upstairs to find my brothers both awake. "Matt can u take us to Starbucks we didn't sleep all night" Chris had said as he plead with puppy dog eyes. "And can we stop at the gas station i want an energy drink" nick said also with puppy dog eyes. "I'm way ahead of you" Matt says as he holds out two starbucks drinks, one for him and for chris. He also pull out an energy drink for Nick. After that we all chilled in Nicks room and just talked. "Did u ask Genevieve abt the whole fidgety with the rings thingy" chris turned and looked at me. "ya also did u ask her abt why she looked uncomfortable around us and when I tried to give her a hug?" With Genevieve I couldn't help but feel safe and comfortable around her, I feel understood. So I lied, I didn't wanna lose a friendship that had just started. "oh uh nah i didn't my bad" I replied playing with a corner of Nick's sheets. They knew I was lying but I was gonna continue to lie if they asked anymore questions. Like 10 minutes after that conversation I left the room and went back to mine to play some games.

Chris' Pov:
No duh i knew he was lying but obviously there's a reason he didn't want us to know. "Soo why do u think he lied to us? You think he has a secret crush on her?" Nick asked in an excited tone. I looked at him so confused "you do know they just met right" I replied still confused. "ok and he spent the whole night with her" Nick replied to me as he rolled his eyes. I just said i didn't wanna talk about it anymore. I knew I was gonna ask Matt later and I told Nick that I would let him know what Matt said. "you better tell me later, good luck" Nick said as I was leaving the room.

Back to Matt's Pov:
I heard my door open but I was way to focused on winning my game. "hey can i talk to you?" Those 6 words are all I needed to hear for him to end my game with no hesitation. "ya what's up, you ok?" I asked worried. Chris looked like he didn't even wanna talk about it. "uh ya but it's about Genevieve and please don't say some stupid fucking excuse, why was she uncomfortable" chris asked in a calm tone. It hurt me to lie to my brothers so I didna dumb thing that i'm praying won't bite me in the ass later. "ok ya fine i'll tell you but if you tell one fucking soul Chris i swear to god" i'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared telling him a secret from a friend, a deep secret. "something bad happened to her and i'm not gonna go into details but let's say she was forced to do something she didn't want to, and let's say it wasn't that long ago either." Those words left my mouth and I don't think i've ever regretted telling someone something as much as I did right now. "other things happened which caused her to to leave such as her getting bullied her whole childhood, i just feel bad for her because now that she's joining school in the middle of the year it gives her a higher chance to be bullied and not make friends you know" I said, now i really regret saying anything by the look on my brothers face. "wow ok well i don't know what to do about the first thing you told me but the school thing, why don't you ask her what school she's going too, maybe she's coming to ours and if she is, she already has 3 friends!" chris said, I'm happy that he said something that was actually smart. I immediately pulled out my phone and decided to text her. Chris had left the room and I immediately knew he was gonna tell Nick, but I trust Nick

Authors Note: ok wow dumbass matt for saying something but okk anyways u think he'll ever tell her that he told chris abt her secrets🤷🏻‍♀️
