The Rain

You'd just finished school but to your dismay, it was raining. You felt like an idiot as even though you had checked the weather forecast, you didn't bring an umbrella.

As most people were smart enough to bring an umbrella they had already left. "fuck sake.." You muttered under your breath.

You'd decided to go to the library and wait for your mum to pick you up, you had an english test to study for anyway.

You got to the library and noticed no teachers, probably because they all went home. It was a Friday so you understood. Actually, the library was very quiet and dark. There was not a student or teacher in sight.

You made your way over to a small corner in the library, no one would notice you there right? You pulled out some headphones from your bag and plugged them into your phone.

You scrolled through your spotify playlist and decided on, Falling in love by cigarettes after sex, fitting for the rainy day in your opinion.

You pulled out a text book from your bag, there were questions in there that you could answer, they'd help you pass the assessment.

At least an hour had passed, you'd called your mum but she was stuck at work for at least another hour. Annoyed, you continued working, music blasting through your headphones.

You didn't notice someone else had entered the library though, not until you very audibly sighed.

A gentle tap on the shoulder got your attention. You jumped at the small touch and looked up, you saw a handsome looking blonde boy. His hair was damp, he must have been out in the rain.

You reached for your phone, pausing the music, also taking out a headphone.

"Sorry to scare you." He said, you noticed he had a somewhat soothing voice.

"It's fine." You say awkwardly.

He cleared his throat. "I heard- you sigh, did you need help?" He smiled nervously.

"Oh, sorry I didn't realize I sighed out loud." You blushed, embarrassed. "but uh.. yeah I do need a little help."

He smiled. "What'd you need help with?"

You showed him your book with the question sheet inside, he read carefully through the question and helped you work your way through it.

It took about 10 minutes but you finally finished it. "Thanks.." You pause. "Uh, what's your name? I never asked."

"Albedo." He had a soft smile on his face.

"Thanks Albedo." You returned the same soft smile.

He continued sitting beside you as you put your book back into your bag. "So what're you still doing here?" He asks.

"I forgot an umbrella, I'm waiting for my mum to come pick me up." You say, picking up your headphones again.

A soft chuckle comes from him. "I forgot an umbrella to, I'm waiting for the rain to stop."

"That might be a while, it's pretty heavy."

"Yeah." He leans against the wall, slyly looking down at your lit up phone screen. "Cigarettes after sex hey? Good choice."

You look up from your phone to him. "You like them?"

"Yeah they're a cool band." He looks to you.

Your silent for a moment, "You want to listen to?"

"Oh, you sure?"

"Yeah, why not." You smile and hand him the other side of the headphone. He smiles with gratitude, taking it. He put it in his ear making you both sit quite close to each other.
