Vienna
(cw; self harm, swearing, blood, flashbacks.)
"Harrington! You've already seen my tits once today and we're not making that twice!" She pushed him back sharply, the somewhat 'moment' they were having now completely jeopardised. Honestly, Vienna hadn't hated his company for the past 30 minutes, but that was probably more due to the fact she hadn't slept in a couple of days and that he was the one in pain. Now that the tables had turned she was enjoying it significantly less.
Steve looked offended. "First of all, I didn't really see them the first time. Secondly, it's for your own good!" Vienna continued to look at him with discomfort. "Jesus i'm not trying to perv on you ok i'm not Jonathan and i highly doubt you want anyone walking out on this period, so let's just make this quicker and easier for the both of us."
"Ok, first of all," She repeated, with a slightly mocking tone. "That Jonathan joke wasn't funny, you're just salty that Nancy moved past it and is still friends with him. Second of all, people can walk into the changing rooms as well. The games nearly over Steve." Shit, she didn't mean to say that again.
"Vienna you are not leaving here with those looking like that unless you're in a fucking ambulance, we'll go into the showers and we'll be done in 20 minutes. I'm sure coach has been prolonging fouls and halftimes long enough waiting to see if i'll come back so we have time I promise." He sighed at her with a look of desperation, she knew he was right. Even Billy had been pestering her about it.
"Fine."
"Ok, thank fuck." He stood and offered her a hand, she took it without complaint. As she pulled herself up using his weight, she felt like the skin on her side was being ripped open all over again. The thin scab that had finally healed over since Monday, had been wiped away with antiseptic and she was now bleeding onto her jersey. She groaned as she stood and smiled at him weakly, he shook his head, "This isn't gonna work."
"What ar-" She was cut off by a quick yelp as Steve picked her up bridal style. In any other situation Vienna would've been kicking and screaming, but the warmth of Steve's bare chest pressed against the cuts was strangely comforting. She shook her head in an attempt to rid herself of the thoughts. The walk to the locker rooms was hardly long, but now that she was in pain, it felt like an eternity. He carried her through the school like she weighed nothing, she was glad she didn't have to feel guilty that he was carrying her.
He leaned her against the wall in one of the shower cubicles, "I'm gonna go back and grab the stuff we need, please Vienna I'm begging you not to leave whilst I'm gone." He didn't wait for a response as he walked back out and left her alone in the cold showers. Vienna wished she had the energy to run out the school and go camp out in Billy's car until she could go home, even if she wanted to, she couldnt've made it out the school. She leaned back into the tiles and felt tears prick her eyes. She felt fucking pathetic.
She pulled out her hair, which had been pulled back so tight it was giving her a headache, and ran her hand through it. She tried to blink away her tears but the more she tried, the harder she cried. The door opened with a sharp screech again, she took a deep breath and wiped her tears away but the red stains they left were definitely still obvious. Steve turned the corner and knelt down in front of her. He began laying down towels and a shirt for her to sit on which she was grateful for because her ass was freezing, she sat back down on it. "Turn around."
He nodded and turned away from her, Vienna slowly lifted the shirt over her head and brought it down to hold over her chest. She cleared her throat so that he knew it was safe for him to turn around again.
Steve flushed red and knelt down next to her again. He pulled her closer and pushed the needle into her skin, "I'm so sorry, this will be quick i promise."
