Chapter 17

Get Out

Echo could hear a soft ticking noise. He actually hated that noise. His dad had an old grandfather clock inside of one of the rooms. Everytime he walked by the room the ticking annoyed his senses so much.

He looked around the room and realized he was in fact within Borg's office. How he ended up there was beyond him. Why he was there was...the lights overhead turned red, and a loud siren went off. He sat up and looked around as the receptionist's voice advised to find a staircase. But...what about Zane?

He jumped up and ran toward the R & D lab. As he stood in the elevator his mind wondered, hoping Lex was alright. She probably didn't want to see him again. Stepping out of the elevator he spotted his brother still on the floor. He helped Zane up from the floor.

"Brother..." his words were spoken softly. Zane slowly looked up at Echo. The smile that spread across his face told him everything. "You aren't mad at me?" He asked Zane. Zane smiled at him and shook his head.

"I could never be mad at you Echo. You are..." He slumped against him.

"Hang on to me alright? I'll get you repaired." He helped his brother up onto the platform. Zane cringed as his chest popped and he sputtered for a moment clinging to Echo as it happened.

"I fear I will not be able to..." Echo shook his head.

"You will be fine." He told his brother who shook his head. He didn't feel okay, he felt like his energy was seeping out of his chest. Even though nindroids didn't actually bleed.

"Alright..." Echo helped his brother up onto the repair table. An arm came down and started to repair the nindroid.

Echo however had other plans.

The door of the elevator opened and out walked Mr. E. He turned to look at Dr. Borg who remained between the girl and him.

"A gentleman till the end you know. I never expected someone like you to be so chivalrous. Borg knew what was going to come, but he ended up cringing at the pain as Mr. E grabbed the front of his jacket and got inches from his face. He could feel the heat on the nindroids breath.

"Whatever it is you want from me, I'll never give it." What did he want? What would possibly sate this droid's blood lust?

"I want the masks back." This was news to him. "Where is my lady? What has become of the sons of garmadon? Where is my Emperor?" He growled.

Borg tried to push away from the anger in his voice and how much harder he squeezed him.

"The masks were destroyed. They cracked and stopped working. Harumi...I don't know. Shortly after you died, so did she, but her body was never found. I don't know." Mr. E grabbed Borg's throat and squeezed.

"And my emperor?"

"H...Hidden..." Borg tried to swallow, but he couldn't. His airway began to close off completely. His fingers raked over the angry droid's own hands. Darkness began to cloud over his vision and he could barely hold onto his conscious mind.

"Echo please don't!" he felt someone land on him. He was forced to let go of the engineer who landed on the ground. His wheelchair is now overturned.

"I am not Echo!" She grabbed her face and pulled her closer to him. "This body belongs to me, and you annoy me." He threw her to the ground and kicked her. "Don't worry, I'm sure you'll join your little boyfriend soon." Lex began to backpedal slowly seeing as she could only use one leg.

"Don't come near me." She coughed.

Mr. E smiled down at her, she could see the oil on his teeth.

"Or what?" He chuckled, his optics flashing as lightning stretched across the sky. Lighting up Mr. E's vision blinded him effectively. Lex used this moment and ran as fast as she could hiding behind the AC unit.

Mr. E turned to look back at where the girl had been before.

"Lex." He said in a sing-song voice as he grabbed a water pipe and pulled it from the wall. "Come on Lex, I'm not going to hurt you." This would be a lot easier if the noise were being drowned out by the patting of the heavy rain.

Lex couldn't help but push herself further and further back. She could hear his heavy shows hitting the ground. Each and every time he got closer and closer. She could see his reflection in the water. She turned and ran only for her hair to be pulled back with force. She hit the water hard. She curled into a ball and cried out in pain holding her leg.

"There you are." She could see the sinister smile on his face. The pole held high above his head and came down.

"Help me!" she screamed. The dull thud echoed throughout the roof.

"You..." Lex looked up into the angry bronze eyes of Echo. "I thought you were dead!"

"An act that was greatly exaggerated." Echo pulled the pole from Mr. E and threw it to the side. Echo wanted to destroy this mech with his bare hands.
