Chapter 19

Afterward

Echo looked on from his spot on a bench just outside Borg Tower. Lexington's ambulance was loaded up and going down the street. He felt the bench move a bit as Zane sat down. Both of which looked like they were going to fall asleep at any moment.

"So...I heard you got a job." Echo snorted and looked at his brother.

"It wasn't a job. He wanted me to cook. I like to cook." He bounced in place as he smiled at his brother. Zane shook his head.

"You are too young to have a job Echo. You are..." He thought about it before he looked back at Dr. Borg who was in his other wheelchair looking over Pixal. "You are going to school."

"School? Like in that cartoon we saw?" He asked. Zane wasn't sure just which cartoon. They saw a lot of them.

"Well probably not. I will inform you on what you will need to know before going. Until then I want you to...get some rest. You and I both are...well we're." Zane sighed.

"We are tired...but I am hungry. I have not eaten in..." He thought about it and gasped. "This body hasn't had food. Its brand new. " He looked down at his belly and pointed at it. "The food is going to bounce as soon as it gets in there." Zane looked surprised.

"This body has a humor button?"

"Indeed and a few other things as well. I wanted to be...like you. It is more you than it was me last. The only difference is here." He pointed to his chest and his head.

"Then it is all different." He told his brother. Echo tried to argue but Zane held up his hand. "That is good. You are you. I am me. That is okay." He turned to look up at Lloyd as he walked over.

"Are you both alright?" He asked. He looked covered in soot.

"Yes, although I think we all could use a meal and a bath, and probably sleep." Zane said, looking around at Pixal who walked over toward them.

"Dr. Borg has invited us to Chen's noodles. I think we all deserve it."

Justin looked on from his spot across the street in a computer store.

"That little jerk, look at him being all chummy with those ninja. Wait till I get my hands on that scrawny neck of his. He won't be smiling like that anymore." He growled twisting at the small knife in his hands. The piece of cork board underneath began to unravel.

"Oh and you think you can do it all on your own...don't you?" The chuckle echoed down the hallway.

The gang turned to look at the spot, but nothing was there. The lights turned off and all they could see was a pair of familiar glowing eyes.

"Who the hell are you?" Justin pointed the knife at the eyes.

"Mr. F..." The lights blinked showing a leather clad person with a biker helmet.
