Chapter 18

The Chair

Zane groaned as he slowly stood up. The monitor flashes green, and advises him to stay laying down till the calibrations are set. He couldn't stick around, the room was quickly filling up with smoke. He looked around, going toward the elevator. He heard a soft moan coming from one of the joining rooms. He looked inside and gasped.

"Pixal!" He called out running over to his slightly unconscious girlfriend.

"Zane..." She pointed toward a droid against the wall. He looked up to see Cryptor. He had a hole in his leg, and held one of his arms. It sparked and popped.

"Mr. E must have done that?" He reached down only to get swiped at by the angry general.

"Stow your sentimentality. I did more damage to him. I just can't run after him, my leg is fucked." He cringed at the popping. He chuckled and held up an arm and waved it. Its hand went from side to side. He chuckled again at the joke before throwing it down.

"Kick his ass, tin can." Cryptor growled out and tried to stand up using the arm as a cane.

Zane turned to look at Pixal who looked almost like she were about to fall asleep. Cryptor walked up behind her and sighed.

"Come on we gotta get out of here, the place is on fire." Cryptor spoke softly to Pixal.

After he was decommissioned by Borg and reprogrammed slightly to be more of a security network rather than an army he was a bit more patient with Pixal. Not many else though.

"How did you get here anyways?" Cryptor asked. Pixal pointed to the elevator.

"I came back for you." Cryptor could tell she got into a fight with Mr. E as well, probably in the hallway.

"What about Mindroid?" He asked. Pixal shook her head.

"He was downstairs ushering people from the building." Cryptor nodded glad that his partner was safe.

Mindroid was given to him as a partner because the therapist said he didn't need to be alone. They fought a lot though, Mindroid kept him on his toes. An unlikely friendship blossomed.

Zane patted Cryptors shoulder and ran up the stairs rather than down with them.

"Take care of her Cryptor, or I'll kick your butt." Of course he would take care of her. It was in his new coding.

Lexington ran her fingers over her face. The rain was falling so hard now. She could hardly keep her eyes open. This was the kind of rain that you could take a nice shower in. However the lightning was getting closer and closer to them.

Mr. E and Echo seemed to be at a stalemate. Although Lex was sure that if Mr. E had both arms he would have destroyed Echo. Although, it had begun to become apparent that perhaps he was just toying with him. She wished she could hear what they were saying but the rain was pounding on the roof so hard that she could barely hear her own whimper. She looked around seeing Dr. Borg laying on his chest. She had to get to him, and get him into the elevator now. But how could she do it without being noticed? She slowly crawled around the AC unit and started to make her way around. She turned to see Echo's kick meet Mr. E's chest. He cried out in pain. The injury he had before started to spark and crackle in the rain.

"You think just because your brother is one of the ninja that you are on a better level than myself?" He laughed looking on at his counterpart.

"You and I stem from the same mind. You and I are no better than the next. This fight is proof of that." Echo told Mr. E. Mr. E however thought that was more adorable than it needed to be.

"I killed your brother once. Left him to die in the desert. Threw him off the cliff. He tried to fight me, it was...fun." He smiled at Echo.

The anger that Echo felt at that moment paled in comparison to what he felt earlier. How dare he lie about his brother. His brother wasn't just some side show for him to fool with. He was a living being.

"You're lying to me!" Echo yelled jumping forward grabbing hold of Mr. E's shirt.

Echo gasped, feeling the pain of Mr. E's knee in his chest, several times. He fell to his knees. He felt sick suddenly. He hated that feeling. It felt almost gross.

"Oh this looks fun." Mr. E grabbed Echos' hair.

He was pushed to the side as he felt a weight on his back. He turned to see Lexington trying go thit him. The soft pangs of her fists hitting his back were almost adorable.

"Let him go!" She screamed as she felt his hand grab hold of her arm and pull it. She cried out in pain as he walked her over to the side of the roof looking down at Echo who looked horrified for the girl

"No...No don't. Put her down." Echo tried reaching for her but was kicked back by the droid.

"Oh...I see...you have feelings for the imp." Mr. E's smile was incredibly horrifying for the young nindroid.

"No..." Mr. E fell sideways when he felt something hit him full force. Echo jumped forward grabbing Lexingtons hand.

Mr. E lay on the ground oil pooling around his body. Dr. Borgs wheelchair was bent and in pieces.

"I can't...she's slipping. Help me!" Echo kept trying to dig into her arm. She looked so tired. Her leg bled freely all over again.

To his relief someone grabbed hold of her arms as well. He turned to see Zane, his brother looked at him with a soft smile. One of relief and love.

This was over now, he could go home.
