A Reunion To Remember

Chapter 5: Blocking out thoughts

"Are you that excited for dodgeball Anya?" "Yes! I love it! Also, how did you know my name?"  "Oh! Uh I heard someone say your name!" "Must have been bullies." Anya muttered to herself.

"Alright squirts, listen up! Today we're playing dodge ball so I'm pickin' team captains to make teams. Alrighty how bout Yuki and Mr. Desmond! Y'all is the team captains!" "Yes sir!" "Alright then. Desmond you pick first!"  "Anya!"
With those words echoing through the room people started whispering, "Omg! He chose HER! Why'd he chose that stupid runt! With her idiocy she'll cause that hottie to lose!" "I know right?! She's just a crybaby runt!"
"Anya, come on!"  "Sorry Damian..."  "Ok I'll pick Yuno!"  "Kid with purple highlights!"

After everyone got into their teams Coach Grantor announced that the game was going to start. Eventually every one on Damians team except for him and Anya were out. It would be Anya and Damian versus Yuno and Yuki! 
"Just look at Anya! She'll definitely lose!" No no no! Anya promised herself she wouldn't read anyone's mind now that she could control her powers more! Yuno was always thinking rude things of her anyways. "It wouldn't hurt to read Damians mind!" Anya thought. No, Anya chose not to invade his thoughts. "You got this Anya!" Damian called out to her.

Damian and Anya had already gotten the bratty Yuno out and were just going up against Yuki.
When Yuki threw the ball at Anya it was coming at such force that it was going to hurt! "I have to save her again! From a dodge ball..." Damian thought as he ran to her, blocking the ball from her stomach while instead it hit his own.
Gasp! Damian got the wind knocked out of him. "I will avenge your death Damian." Anya said to him. "She's still the same like in Eden."  Damian thought, giggling.

Anya got into her killer throw stance, the same one Mama had shown her. Damian looked at her and expected the same throw like the dodge ball match when they were kids but instead the ball hit Yuki in the stomach and Damians team had won.

After the match Yuki bent over, a painful expression on his face as he held his stomach trying to breath. He got the wind knocked out of him and felt horrible.
Later that day he had went to the nurse to discover he had 2 broken ribs!

Anya grabbed her bag after the bell that dismissed kids to go home rang and headed to the front gates of the school. "Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! I did it again! I made a promise to myself I wouldn't read people's minds anymore unless I absolutely needed to!"  Anya thought to herself. She felt tears well up in her eyes but wiped them away.

After the incident Anya had trained herself to not only chose when she wanted to and who she wanted to reads mind but also how to have other people read someones mind. She promised to herself to block it out though due to the fact that all she would hear in peoples minds where negative thoughts about her and making fun of her. She hated it! I caused her mental health to worsen so she just blocked out peoples thoughts. Simple.

"Anya! Wow! Wasn't that a killer move if I've ever seen one!"  Anya looked over her shoulder and saw Damian. "I HAVE to read his mind! Is he really my friend?" "You HAVE to show me that move one day Anya!"  "Sure... Also did you know I had a friend named Damian Desmond too? He also saved me from getting hit with a dodge ball once!  "That was me Anya. Is she really this oblivious? No! She's not. I bet she's just having a hard time right now since she STILL blames herself. Oh Anya, what am I going to do to make you smile again?"
Anya flinched at his thoughts. "Y-you're, alive." She whispered to herself. "What'd you say?"  "Nothing!" "Anya! Why are you crying?! I'm sorry I forgot to answer your question! I bet that boy was awesome and cute too!" "I'm just happy Damian."  "About what? Did you finally realize who I am or something?"
"Yes I did. You're a weirdo who I've never met before in my life." "Guess I'll still have to wait till she puts her brain cells together to figure out who I am."  "Hey!"  "What? No one said anything?" "Nothing." Anya giggled.
"If he still plans on not telling me I'll act oblivious and tease him! This really is amazing! After all this time, he's alive!"
