Training with Loki had recently become one of your favourite activities. While guns were something you were used to, swords and daggers were his favourite. More personal he'd told you, you can get closer looking into the eyes of the one whose life you were taking. It was that inner darkness in him that had drawn you in years ago, your own slowly growing to match his.

You spun the sword round in your hand with a smile. "Shall we?"

"Make your move darling."

You began lunging at Loki, your blades clinking together as they collided. You unconsciously pulled back, not wanting to hurt him. You had plans for Tony, but you wouldn't let your anger cloud your judgement when it came to Loki.

You managed to glide round the back of Loki, jumping up to hold the blade to his neck. "Come on Laufeyson. You can do better than that." You teased.

Loki threw you off him. As he attempted to get the upper hand you blasted him with a green shot of magic, his back hitting the padded wall of your basement gym.

He got to his knees, flicking his hair out of his face. "I regret teaching you magic." He growled as he delivered the same blow back to you.

You landed flat on your back, kicking your legs up and pushing of the floor you got to your feet. He appeared in front of you, your blade crashing against his.

"You're pulling your punches." He stated, spinning you round to place the blade at your throat.

You managed to escape his hold, your parries starting once again.

"I won't with him." Even the thought of going up against Tony had your hits landing that much harder.

Sweat began to drip from both of you as you alternated between blades and magic. You pinned him against the wall, feeling confident that you'd bested him.

Loki smirked. "Don't get cocky." He suddenly disappeared, only to reappear behind you, spinning you round to pin your hands against the wall above your head. "You're good Sky, you're not that good."

Your laboured breaths became more ragged as the tension built between you.

"Loki..."

"I know."

His lips crashed against yours as both your blades dropped to the floor. It seemed to be that no matter what you were doing, it always ended the same way.

With your legs wrapped around his waist, screaming his name.

Bucky had been quiet since he'd got back to the tower. He sat in the common room with a glass of whiskey in his hand, staring into it as if it held all the answers. His guilt at hurting you was eating at him; but after seeing you, it was then that he realised just how much damage had truly been done.

Sam walked in, seeing the far off look in Bucky's eyes. He sat beside him, not saying a word. He knew Bucky would talk when he was ready and not a moment sooner.

Bucky drained his drink. "She's changed Sam."

"In what way?"

Sighing, Bucky ran his hand through his hair. "Remember how she used to light up a room?" He turned to Sam. "Now she makes you want to run from it."

He'd seen the darkness in your eyes that you'd tried to hide. The stiffness in your spine whenever he spoke. The anger you had, it had taken root deep within you. He noticed more than anyone else would because he knew more about you than anyone else.

For years he'd hidden how he felt out of a sense of guilt towards Tony. A guilt no one knew about. He'd watched from the sidelines, watching you with a longing in his chest every time you entered the room. The way your smile could wash away the rain clouds, your laugh brighter than the sun. The way you'd stick your tongue out when you were concentrating. There was nothing he didn't see, no matter how small.

"She's angry still?" Sam questioned.

"It's more than that." He didn't want to admit what he already knew, but he had to. "Steve was right. She's not the Skylar that we knew."

"You mean the one you loved." Sam probed, knowing how Bucky truly felt about you.

Bucky nodded solemnly. "I loved her the second I laid eyes on her. Then she went and opened her mouth and I tumbled head first." He looked up at Sam. "We need to stop her before she does something she can't come back from."

Sam knew Bucky meant well, but this was between you and Tony. If a fight broke out he didn't want Bucky to get hurt.

"She's with Loki now Buck. Don't let that cloud your judgement."

"Yeah, that's what worries me."

It was more than jealousy he was feeling. While he hadn't been around for Loki's attack, he'd heard enough from Thor to know no good would come from you being with him. Loki would take that anger and twist it into something more. He'd destroy the woman Bucky loved and leave something far worse behind.

He had to make you see sense before it was too late.

He left Sam, deciding he needed to come up with a way to make you see sense. He would take on Loki without hesitation if it meant getting a chance to get through to you. He just had to find a way to get you to listen. There was nothing and no one that could stop him from claiming the woman he loved.

As he walked past Tony's lab he saw Pepper storming inside, clearly angry about something.

"Tony!" Pepper shouted out as she stormed into the lab.

Pieces of iron man suits were scattered over every available surface. A sure sign that he was distracting himself from the problem at hand.

Tony sighed as he stood up. "This should be fun."

"You went to see her?"

Rolling his eyes he shrugged his shoulders. "We're over Pepper, I don't have to explain myself to you."

In his eyes her jealousy was misplaced. He hadn't been near her since you'd left. He knew what a mistake he'd made and he wasn't about to repeat it.

Pepper stood with her hands on her hips, scowling at him. "Need I remind you that you came to me remember? You told me how unhappy you were."

"I didn't realise what I had."

Going to Pepper had been the biggest mistake of his life and had cost him everything. He'd do whatever it took to make that mistake right, no matter how long it took.

"She wont take you back."

"She's forgiven me before."

Pepper scoffed. "For forgetting a birthday or a dinner. Not for breaking her heart." She couldn't understand how Tony couldn't accept his relationship with you was over. Her and him just fit, so why was he still holding on to the past? To a woman who clearly no longer wanted him.

"I'll get her back!" Tony snapped. "I have to."

Pepper knew a lost cause when she saw one. She couldn't stick around and watch the pain Tony was going to be in. Pulling her security badge off her blazer she threw it down in front of him.

"Good luck Tony, consider this my resignation."

As she stormed out Tony felt nothing but relief. That chapter of his life was over. Watching her walk away hadn't had the same effect it had when you left. He knew by that alone who he was irrevocably in love with, and it certainly wasn't Pepper Potts.

Bucky watched Pepper leave, having heard everything. You had a history with Tony, but that wasn't going to stop him this time. He'd find a way to get you to forgive him, a way to get you away from Loki. He'd fix your heart and show you what it was like to be loved for who you truly were. He was sure that you were made for each other, he just had to find a way to make you see it too.
