A few looks were thrown your way as you headed down to the cell you'd broken Loki years ago. You ignored the looks of the worried SHIELD agents as you kept to the shadows. None of them were brave enough to stop you, it was clear that word had spread about your allegiance with Loki and what you'd do in order to get him out. They didn't need to know that you had no intentions of letting him out of that cell.

You took the stairs, not wanting the elevator to give away your arrival. Your steps were light not a sound echoing as you walked. It wasn't until you were stood directly in front of the cell with Loki's back to you that Loki stopped pacing.

"There's not many people that can sneak up on me." He smirked proudly as he turned to face you.

You crossed your arms over your chest, not giving away anything as you ignore the slight flutter in your chest as you looked at him. You always did enjoy him in his Asgardian armour.

"I had a good teacher."

Loki smiled as he walked closer to you, a smile plastered across his smug face. "So what's your escape plan this time?" He asked, assuming you were there to get him out. He was clearly under the impression that Steve hadn't spilled his entire plan to you.

You took a step towards him. "Tell me Loki. How did they catch you?" You kept your annoyance buried as you waited for his answer.

"Why does it matter?"

"Just answer the fucking question." You snapped.

Loki shrugged his shoulders. "I guess they caught me off guard." He lied, his eyes never leaving yours.

You tried to keep the way your heart broke from showing on the surface. Of all the people on Earth that had betrayed you, you had at least hoped that Loki would never join them. That he would be the one to stand by your side through anything and everything. Yet here he was lying to you as easy as breathing. Something you knew in that moment that you would never forgive.

"You want to know the problem I'm having believing that?" You asked, although you didn't really need an answer.

Not letting on how much he was hating lying to you, Loki walked backwards towards the one bench in his cell. "By all means, do tell me." He challenged, hoping he would find a way to convince you.

What you weren't aware of in that moment was the conversation going on upstairs between Nick Fury and the Avengers.

"Does someone want to tell me why you're not stopping her right now?" Nick barked at Steve. His opinion of you was well known, that coupled with his want to put you in the cell you were currently standing beside was more than obvious.

Steve kept his eyes on the screen in front of him, watching the interaction between you and Loki. "Because she's not going to let him out." Of that he had no doubt. Not after last night.

"How can you be so sure?"

Bucky sat beside Steve, his eyes glued to you and the way you were moving with nothing but confidence. He could all but see the walls you'd currently got up around yourself. Seeing the small changes in the way you walked, subtle and only something that someone who had spent time watching you would notice.

"Because he just lied to her and she knows it." Bucky defended your actions.

Nick sighed. "She still stole SHIELD property."

Tony decided at that moment to walk into the room, hearing the debate as he'd walked down the hallway. "I mean technically she didn't." He smirked at Nick. "Loki did and he's locked up."

Confused glances were cast around and Tony defending what you had done. What he hoped to gain out of it, no one was quite sure.

"So what do you plan to do to get it back?" Nick cast his gaze over to Steve and Bucky. This was their mission and they didn't seem to be in a hurry to complete it.

When they didn't answer Nat stepped in, she didn't trust Steve and Bucky to actually do what they'd been asked but a shouting match between them and Nick wasn't going to solve anything.

"We watch her and figure out what her next move is."

Silence  settled over them once more as everyone's attention went back to the conversation between you and Loki.

You leant back against the wall behind you, your legs crossed at the ankle. "Do you know the problem when you switch sides?...Learning who you can trust." You made sure to put the emphasis on the word trust, hinting at the fact you already knew the truth. "Now I was very clear what I expected from you. One simple rule to follow. No lies."

Loki at least had the decency to look sheepish as it became clear that he was backed into a corner. "Skylar please." He tried to plead his case.

You cut him off with wave of your hand, pushing off the wall as you did. "You let them capture you. Told them to lie for you. Told them to lie to me. And now?...Now you can suffer the consequences." You put aside any feelings you had for him as you glared at the man you thought you could trust.

"What?" Loki asked as he came up to the glass in front of you.

You held out your arms and spun in a circle. "Congratulations. Welcome to your new home."

You refused to give him any more of your time, your work here was done. You needed to get out of there before it became clear just how much turning your back on Loki was hurting you. How you put higher and stronger walls up around your already splintered heart.

Just before you got to the door way you turned to face Loki once again, ignoring the pained look on his face as he looked back at you.

"Thank you though. For reminding me the only person I can trust is me."

You didn't stop again, making sure to avoid anyone that would want your attention as you left. The betrayal from Loki had hurt you more than you cared to admit to anyone, even to yourself. All that was left was to go back to your apartment and hide out while you adjusted your plans to fit to working alone.

Rather than walk the whole way there you used the magic that you were quickly mastering. You appeared in the middle of your kitchen thinking of nothing more than a large drink and a hot bath. Even villains need their down time. With what you had planned you knew that was how the world was going to come to see you.

The worrying part was that you just didn't have it in you to care about it anymore.

Unfortunately for you, there was another certain someone who was refusing to let you take the path you wanted. Blue eyes and a metal arm that you had fantasied about more than once.

As if by magic the door to your apartment opened, granted it was forced slightly.

"Doll. I know you're here and we need to talk."
