Aayla bowed low as the noble Sir Jeffers passed by on a dappled gray horse. Of course she was just a peasant on the streets of Aurek, the greatest kingdom in Getlana, out of the 6 kingdoms that had been established. Of course being a peasant meant you had nothing and you had to make a living by selling all you had, looking for work, all that, and sometimes taking food or money from the wealthier. Aayla was more of the last type of person.
Just about no one could get in or out of Aurek without the King's permission; and most of the people were peasants and those who weren't were nobles born of 'Noble Blood'.
The guards shunned her by poking her with the spear on the blunt end
"Get!" He said harshly to Aayla pulling a few strands of cyan hair out of her braid, hooking them to his belt and smiling wickedly. Aalya jumped up and ran, then tripped on a bucket
"Augh!" Aayla got caught by her arm gently, and she quickly looked to see who had.
"Woah! Aayla watch yourself!"
"Oh it's just you." She said to her boyfriend Thire Dash Trama.
"Well then, I've never seen you be so rude!" Aayla looked into his violet eyes skeptically.
"Hmm somehow I can actually feel the irony in that statement." He looked very hurt but after about 5 seconds he burst out laughing
"Shhh! The guards will hear us!" She hissed, smiling as he kissed her lightly. They sneaked out of the alleyway climbing onto the rooftops, then Thire let out a dove call.
2 others climbed on momentarily, the girl was named Valerie Locust, she was wearing a faded red shirt tucked into some orange-red shorts. And the boy was named Ace Vanera. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and some gray-blue shorts. Of course they were all fit from running away from guards but Aayla and the others had to scrounge for food in the city so they were also all thin.
"Here eat this, we found them on the floor of the market." Valerie said tossing Aayla and Thire each a small bag of cherries.
"Oh thanks." Thire said opening it halfway then looking in the direction of an alleyway
"Run," Aayla said. She was the fittest of the group and usually got a head start before the rest. Right as she jumped from the roof of a building two hands reached out from underneath and pulled her down to the alley below, she barely caught hold of the next building but lost her grip.
Tumbling down to the alleyway she saw who her attacker was. It was a girl a bit younger than her with two razor sharp daggers, one of which was pointed right at her, nearly touching an artery on Aayla's neck. She couldn't see the girl's face very well because half of it was covered by a mask and the other half was shrouded in shadow.
"Who are you?" The mystery girl asked with an angry tone.
"Why should I tell you who I am if I don't know who you are?" Aayla countered.
"Fine, I'll tell you who I am if I know you are trustworthy." the young girl said, taking Aayla's hand and putting the point of her dagger to it. The girl pierced Aayla's skin making a steady trickle of blood gush out. The pain that followed was very tolerable. Next, the girl took a crystal vial from a small pouch next to her with a shiny, clear liquid coating the inside and poured some of the blood in. She gave a bandage to Aayla and shook the vile a bit. Then she drank the blood, swallowing it in one gulp.
"You're good. My name is Darkfire." The girl said.
"Darkfire? Why Darkfire, also why did you do that? That was nasty!." Aayla stated
"Why should you care? By the way, what is your name?"
"Sorry, it's Aayla." She said, defensively putting her hands up.
"Aayla!" Valerie yelled, Darkfire looked up and growled.
"Who's that?" she spat menacingly,
"No please don't she's just my friend Valerie-"
"How many are there?" Darkfire interrupted
"Only four including me." Aayla said with a mild sound of fear
"Valerie, Ace, Thire! Come down here." Aayla shouted. They heard faint voices of guards.
"Oh great now you've attracted guards. Come on!" Darkfire said, hauling Aayla up off the ground.
"Wait," Aayla said, staying still. "Darkfire?" she called, but the girl had already disappeared.
"Aayla come on!" Thire yelled.
"Coming!" She called back as she climbed out.
