Part-1

“Where were you last night, Jeno?” Mark crossed his arms in front of his chest as he eyed his brother suspiciously.

“At the library? Why?” Jeno replied, more like questioned himself. He avoided looking at Mark as his brother was a keen observer. One look at him and he would know that something fishy was up. However the reason he gave Mark was more stupid.

“Didn’t know that you had to go to library at 3am through your window.” Mark now sat down beside Jeno, making him feel like digging a hole on the floor and disappearing through it.

“Well- look, I-I” Jeno wanted to explain but didn’t know how to say. The situation he was in wasn’t something he could just describe easily.

“Hey-hey Jeno, take it easy. Calm down. If you are not ready, you don’t need to explain anything to me. But as your brother, I care about you. Sneaking out in the middle of the night isn’t something that I never did but I just don’t want you to fall into bad influence or shady stuffs because of it. Okay?” Mark softly said and ruffled his younger brother’s hair.

“Thankyou for understanding hyung and I promise you that someday I will tell you everything.” He really wanted him to know but he can’t find words to make it a valid reason without worrying Mark..Jeno side hugged his brother and nuzzled his face onto his hoodie.

“It’s okay Jeno, I understand. I won’t tell mom about this but promise me that you will tell me if anything happens. Am I clear?” Mark knew that his brother was smart enough to not fall into the bad crowd but that didn’t stop his brotherly instincts from kicking in.

“I promise.” Jeno smiled and made Mark coo at how fluffy and cute his eye smile was, not knowing how different his brother could actually be.

Another night, another mission.

Jaemin sat down on the edge of the terrace of an old building with his legs dangling down. He heard footsteps behind him but paid no mind to it. When he felt the person sitting beside him, he turned around and smiled.

“Hey” There he was, Lee Jeno, dressed in an all black outfit that showed off his godly proportions.

Jaemin couldn’t believe the duality of this guy. The same Jeno at school would be dressed in hoodies and sweats with framed glasses that made him look cuter than anything while now he was dressed in something that made Jaemin drool. His glasses were replaced by brown contacts, his black hair was brushed back, a few buttons of his shirt undone topped with a smirk that made Jaemin want to knock himself off his feet.

He loved however Jeno was, whether it was the cute or hot side of him, Jaemin didn’t care, he just loved Lee Jeno.

“Hi Jaemin, nice to meet you again.” Jeno smiled and looked sideways at the boy.

Jaemin was popular in school. Needless to say how half of the student population swooned over him. Jeno wouldn’t lie that he initially thought Jaemin would be a snob when they were paired up for the first time in a mission. But turned out that Jaemin was way different; in a good way though. Jeno felt bad for judging him by the amount of popularity he had.

“Are you ready?” Jaemin asked again, taking a deep breath when he felt Jeno looking at him unblinkingly.

“Yes I am. Are you?” Something about Jaemin pulled Jeno in. Sometimes he considered himself as a part of the crowd that lined up for Jaemin’s one single glance to be thrown at them. But then again he didn’t feel intrigued because of his looks or his popularity. All of it did matter but not more than his personality. He wanted to know Jaemin more. He wanted to go further and see if he could ever be a part of his life.

Was Jaemin ready?

Actually he wasn't. He wasn’t ready when he got selected for this organization. But he needed money at that time. Moving alone to Seoul a year ago was hard for him. He was glad however that the organization he was working for was under the government, so he was assured that he wasn’t doing something illegal. At least he was doing good for the society.

“I am.” He nodded. But there was something, a tiny gut feeling that was nagging him to be extra careful in the mission they were heading to. He didn’t want to ruin the atmosphere by saying it out loud.

“But you look like as if something is bothering you Jaemin. If you wanna talk about it, I am here.” Jeno, unconsciously took Jaemin’s hand in his, making butterflies erupt in their bellies. Neither of them pulled their hands away. Jeno made a bold move by taking Jaemin’s other hand and lacing them together.

Jaemin felt a sudden wave of melancholy rush through his veins as a few tears made their way down. Before his mind could yell him to stop, his heart acted faster and without caring about the consequences, he kissed Jeno. But what surprised him more was how hungrily the latter reciprocated.

After what felt like hours of diving into each other under the twinkling stars and over the bustling city lights, they pulled away and rested against each other’s forehead, out of breath.

“As much as I want to continue and lose my damn mind over you, we need to go.” Jeno said as he roughly kissed the other for the last time and getting up. He held his hand out to Jaemin who shyly took it and followed him to the night.
